I read in a magazine a quote I really enjoyed when I thought tons of HP was king. "What is the difference between a 500 HP Supra and at 700HP supra? 1/10th."

I own a 370Z and a 1991 300ZXTT that I have owned for 13 years, I am the 2nd owner. My 300ZXTT has 90,000 miles on it and runs great. The 300ZXTT is still my favorite car even with my 370Z, but its close.

You can get far beyond 400rwhp with bolt ons on a 300ZXTT.

They are both great cars. Given the chance to go to the track I would probably take the 300ZX first, its faster than my 370Z, but I definitely want to take the 370 at some point too .

Currently the 300ZXTT has intake, exhaust, down pipes, test pipes, ecu, ebc, upgraded suspension, brakes, etc and I am in the middle of a bolt-ons project that will take it close to 500rwhp - new turbos (GT600R), 740cc injectors, dual air intakes, etc. I have all that stuff sitting at home about to be installed because, even though the car runs great, I have to pull the engine to replace the old, brittle EFI harness, so I may as well do everything while the engines out. I also have another job to do on it - pull the subframe because the bushings are worn. I will be busy this summer. which leads me to the downside of the 300ZX's.

The downside is its hard to find a good 300ZXTT for a price thats reasonable, and its 13-19 years old depending on the year you get, and there is alot of stuff to break on a 300ZX, and that stuff is expensive. I take great care of mine, and it only goes about 2-3K miles a year, yet I have a list of stuff I need to do to it. I've spent over $4K on it just this year, and as I get into these projects with it I am sure that will grow.

To summarize that last post: if the car will be your daily driver, get the 370Z.

Any time. You had a great post. Just a bit surprised that anyone might think a modded 13+ year-old car might be a suitable daily driver.

+1 very true........ the law of diminishing returns comes into play here...... the reduction if times ceases to be proportional to the horespower increases. Kinda like musical amplification wattage.... at a certain point massive amounts of additional wattage is needed for a "perceived" increase in volume.

Default Take the 370

If you want a good daily drive and still hit the track........why not take the 370.
1. Its much lighter than the 300
2. Performance parts to have the 300 overcome the weight difference alone could easily double what you could get to bump the 370 up a little more.
3. The response you get alone with the stock 370 is rediculous considering the carbon drive shaft. Its way lighter than the normal heavier drive shafts, meaning it transmits work quicker from tranny to axle increasing the quickness on straight away or coming out of the corners.
4. Not only will you spend more money to upgrade the 300's powerplant....if you plan on running track, you are gonna have to invest in bigger brakes as well to stop that heavy s.o.b when cornering.

Just to name a few....
