My car had 350 miles on it when I bought it new. It was either exchanged from another dealer or something else. So what? it was in perfect shape when I bought it, it's not burning oil (yet), and I've put 4000+ non-gentle miles on it since I've owned it. As long as it's never been titled it can be sold as a new car regardless of miles. Besides, I paid $35k for a 6MT touring/sport/nav in exactly the color combination I wanted so I was happy.
Don't sweat the miles and enjoy your new car!

Wooooaaahhhhhh, so I found a vehicle inspection sheet tucked away inside my car from the dealership that it was shipped from. The date of the inspection is 8-15-2011, however it has an odometer reading on it. IT SAYS 200. So as far back as august my car already had 200 miles on it. When I took ownership of it it had 225 as I had mentioned, which means it was indeed delivered on a truck. However having 200 pre-existing miles on it can only mean one thing, that it was a demo car correct?

No I didnt bother to run a carfax on a brand new car, thought that was only for used cars. I just called the sales manager involved in my purchase about this, and he started by saying "every new car has on average between 100-400 miles on it before the customer takes it". He also said that it could have 200 miles on it from the first dealer because they traded it from yet another dealer for a purchase that never completed. Or because they just wanted to have a black Z on their lot so they had one brought in from another dealer.
He also said that if it was test driven by a customer, Nissan forbids dealerships to let customers go full throttle on their cars or put the cars in other unsafe conditions so I shouldnt have to worry about some moron gunning it to "see what she can do". Finally he said I could bring the sales receipt in and they could adjust it to reflect accurate mileage lol. As far as I'm concerned these 2 documents are my only leverage against them should I need it. You mentioned it's basically too late to do anything, but is there anything that should be done? I guess if the car blows up in a year from bent valves due to improper break-in maybe I can try to sue or something? Thoughts? Last edited by RunNgun; 09-28-2011 at 07:55 PM. |

You'll have better experience of the online car purchase process the next time around. When I purchase mine it took over 24hours of negotiation and the dealer tried to trick me by hiding extra fees in the purchase order, I kicked it back 4 times and told him not to waste my time if the numbers were not what I wanted, I flew in and thoroughly inspected the car and what was stated on sales order before signing anything. I ended up buying the car less than what I had anticipated Post pics of your cool ride when you get the chance boss!

I dont mind trying to negotiate in something extra on top, what are some "deal sweeteners" you think I could realistically whine for? They told me my spoiler was ordered and could possibly be here by the end of the week, so as soon as thats attached I'll do some pics. Nothing special really, just a black Z

Try to get some extra warranty - like someone said, you don't want to be near the end and be denied.
When I took a test drive, no one from the dealer was in the car, and they never mentioned taking it easy during the test.
