Would I be happy with 370Z

See my thread in Nismo section:
http://www.the370z.com/nismo-370z/42...ml#post1325471

Please tell me your thought if someone like me would be better off with non Nismo Z since im planning on modding it.

Hell, i will just copy what i put in Nismo thread:
What up fellas,

I had to sell my E46 M3 in order to buy a house. I can afford both the house and M3 but $800 M3 payment(financed it on 36 months) didnt help my DTI(debt to income) when it came time to buy a house. Houses in Seattle are still expensive, so gotta shell out $300k for a house here which is where DTI came into question.

In all fairness, do any of you see Nismo as an upgrade over my heavily modded M3? I know that interior might be slightly better in M3 but im not too concerned about that. M3 was well balanced which is what i really liked about it, will Nismo provide that "well balanced" factor?

I do like to MOD and mods for Z seem to be a lot cheaper so that should be better.

Im hoping for some honest opinions/feedback and by any chance has anyone here gone from an M to Nismo?

Thanks,
Mookie

Personally speaking, if you're going to be doing a lot of modding, I would go with a base + sport and spend the extra money that the nismo would have been to modify the car.

What kind of numbers was your M3 putting down? I like to think that the Z's aren't a slouch compared to the older M3 platform.

On a side note.. I wish houses were $300k on Long Island

$300k only buys you 1900 SQ FT, 20 mins north of Seattle.

M3s numbers were right around 310 at the wheels on Mustang dyno

It's really going to depend on your style. Have you test driven one yet?

Mookie 09-22-2011 03:04 PM

Have not test driven one, planning on test driving this on Saturday:
*** 09 NISSAN 370Z *** (only 11369 miles)

should really look at getting a mustang instead.

Good. Best option is to see what you feel from the car.

The nismo is notably stiffer than the regular z, so don't let that put you off if that bothers you.

What are your plans for the car, modwise? Any track use?

Mookie 09-22-2011 03:13 PM

Mods already planned:

Lower it, mild drop
FI long tube headers, high flow cats and FI exhaust
CarbonSignal fenders
Spacers but stick with stock rims

Down the road:
AP 6/4 BBK
GTM S/C

Long Tube Headers eliminate the cats

My opinion would be, since your going to be modding, only base buying the nismo off of its looks (which most do already). The big debate seems to be is the nismo worth the cost. To me, when you add up the cost of the rims alone, plus body work, its a good choice to buy it and its worth it

If you dont care about the looks and only care about modding, then dont get the nismo...

You're gonna want a real rear diff too, i think.
You can't run lth's and hfc's.

Things I'd consider coming from an e46:
Trans feel --not as smooth as e46 trans
Engine sound--gets rough up top
Chassis dynamic--z feels stiffer, tad more understeer though

Just go with Base+Sport. Everything you add will be better then what the Nismo had. Did your M3 just have basic bolt-ons?

He said he was putting down around 310 to the wheels. So I'd hope that's just basic bolt-ons haha
