Vaughanabe13 09-17-2011 08:23 AM

23 here. Engineer with parents nice enough to have paid for my college so I made it out debt free and with enough saved to buy the z.

cdoxp800 09-17-2011 08:46 AM

Bought my first Z in 06 (350Z RevUp) Insurance was $680 W/Progressive every 6 months and I was 35 at that time. Bought my 2011 370z and now my insurance is $342 W/Allstate every 6 months. Progressive wanted $980 every 6 months for the 370z.

srbrubak 09-17-2011 09:49 AM

Bought my first "Z" and sports car in Nov 2010 at the young age of 63. Bought it for myself as a combination christmas and birthday gift since my birhday is on Dec 26. For insurance I pay State Farm $312 every 6 months for full coverage.

Paying 150/month for insurances... with 1 speeding ticket

Mt Tam I am 09-17-2011 11:26 AM

I bought my first "Z" a 280Z when I was 18.

I now pay about $800 per year in insurance for full coverage. Exactly what liability cost per year on the 280, back then.

LT419 09-17-2011 11:26 AM

22. As for the two other things everyones been posting: I'm an engineer and I pay $106 a month for insurance.

Skeeterbop 09-17-2011 11:35 AM

27 here

Mr&Mrs 09-17-2011 11:52 AM

I was 25 yrs. old. I pay 200 a month for three cars, and they are all classified as sports cars. I think the Z raised me up 60 dollars a month from what I was paying. I get a little discount for having my house insured with them as well. I use Allstate.

280z/300zx 09-17-2011 11:56 AM

17 when I bought my 300zx
18 when I bought my 280z (kept my 300zx and was the only 18 year old I knew with 2 cars at the time)
27 when I when I bought my 370z.

The 280z and 300zx I bought on my own while going to school full time and only working 15-20hrs a week part time. The 370z was a gift to myself for graduating med school; of course I waited until I was 6mo out and had a stable job. Now I have 3 Z's.

370z46 09-17-2011 12:22 PM

Bought my Z 3 months ago brand new, i'm 20. Mommy and Daddy didn't help either.

Worked for Nissan as a tech while attending UTI. Now work for BMW as a level 1 tech after graduating UTI and BMW's STEP program.

PapoZalsa 09-17-2011 12:50 PM

350Z & 370Z same age group. :)

christian370z 09-17-2011 01:07 PM

Got mine at 19, I did a 50/50 deal with my parents and am in the process of paying back the other half of the cost of the car I could not afford after selling my old car and spending some of my savings and selling some stock. I have so far paid back about half of my parent's half.

I've always been a huge believer that working for something gives you a much greater appreciation for anything you get, I personally get great satisfaction knowing I worked for everything I have.

edge573 09-17-2011 01:16 PM

Bought mine last year, was 26. Last week had my windows down stopped at a stoplight. An older guy on a harley pulls up next to me, says nice car, followed by "so did your mom n dad buy that for you". Was kind of surprised by that. Told him no. If you work full time, have no debt and are wise with your money you can afford one, even when you young!

gurneyeagle 09-17-2011 01:50 PM

Another old guy here; I'm 53.

Does it count that I was 19 when I bought my first new car, a 1977 B-210? What a rockin car - four speed, with the optional tach and AM-FM radio. No a/c, roll down windows, and 70 hp. Oh yea, and I remember bitching to my dad that gas had jumped to $0.45 a gallon!

I hope you "young" guys appreciate what you have. In dark days of the late-70's/early-80's, cars really sucked.

Jeez, I am old!

Rone 09-17-2011 02:23 PM

I was 25 when I bought my Z. I just turned 26 in july. I'm a medic currently serving somewhere in afghanistan and I cannot wait to drive my car again lol.

Too bad we won't be able to say the same think when we're 53. The cars will probably be fueled by cooking oil and Li batteries, and top out at 90mph......downhill, with a tailwind.

Say what? LOL. I wonder if I get a discount when I turn 65? Nah, seriously man, the discount normally happens at age 25.

damn maybe i hsould start looking around :(

emx620 09-17-2011 07:19 PM

I bought it when I was 25 -- software engineer. This car payment is in addition to my other one, so I have two now. It was my gift to myself for starting a new job with a nice salary increase.

Insurance at progressive was $270/month, so I switched to Liberty Mutual where I pay ~$200/month, but that does include 2 cars -- the Z and the Accord, full coverage, $500 deductibles -- 1 accident, no tickets.

birdmanx1 09-17-2011 07:41 PM

I was 19 when I got my first Z and knew right then and there that it wouldn't be my last Z, fast forward a few years down the road, here I am. I currently own 2 PW Nissan and would soon be adding a PW Murano to the collection...GOD willing of course. I'm currently at $250/month for insurance for my 3 cars :tiphat:
