ahh got it, im pretty much in the same boat (without a high paying job lol). i make a decent living and was able to afford a down payment on a house last year. I rented 2 rooms out to friends and that took a lot of weight off my shoulders. Although I do kind of regret buying a house so soon, i've got this really confined feeling. I can never lose my job or quit now cause i'll end up losing my house. I shouldve followed my childhood dreams of becoming a fulltime bum and squatter =/.

I know the value of houses in the US in these couple years has been dropping like crazy, but it is always good to be able to afford a house.

A house will keep its value, the market might goes up & down a bit, but eventually its value is still there. By contrast, a regular production car will only lose its value.

A bank will lend you loan if you have a house, but they won't lend you anything even if you have a Ferrari.

It might sounds like a burden to your shoulders, but it is a very good asset.

Personally, I respect you made a wise choice of buying a house.

cheers!!

I bought a Z06 instead of a house. Since I plan on moving in less than a year, I think it was a good choice for sure. Offloading the Z06 and getting a 370Z as soon as the new 2012's arrive the way I want them here in the US.

Yes, the bank will extend me a loan even without a house, apparently.

22 when I got my 350Z...sold it when I bought my house at 25 (thought I needed an SUV)...then reverted back at 27 with the Nismo!

I love living with no money! Lol j/k just find it so easy to spend it all.......

Bought my first z, 1990 JDM z32 TT at 19. Bought my house the next summer at 20. Sold the 300zx in June of 2010 (owned it for almost 4 years) after I bought my 370 no longer wanted to deal with 20 year old problems lol.

Bought my 40th anniversary in may of 2010 brand new at 23 (turned 24 that August)

28 when i bought my Z back in august of 2011, one of the few Z's to come off the line after the tsunami and am very grateful to those nissan factory workers that took the time to build it after what happened. Since every other post has insurance info i'll just say it, 128/month with e-surance which is now part of allstate lol.

Man you guys are rich. How are you able to buy houses so young?

The Dimer 01-20-2012 07:32 AM

I was 22....am 22, bought the car as a graduation present for myself in May after I got a job as an engineering consultant. Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but hey, I have no one else to worry about but myself and it makes me happy.

21 when I bought my 350. Dont have a 370 :(

Money management and priorities are key here. I used to work with a guy who made 48k a year but had 5 kids and a wife who did not work. He had a house in a decent part of town and a car note on a newer SUV. He survived just fine due to his money management, which was awesome imo lol.

Some of the younger guys may be able to afford the 370 because thats what younger guys care about. The older guys here have families, school for kids, and other things they have to prioritize where as some younger guys spend most of their money on their car. The only thing that makes me mad about younger guys with nice cars (im talking about a portion, not as a whole) is that they tend to act like they are better than others with a lesser car. The younger guys in my area with nice cars talk so much smack because their car is worth so much more, is faster, etc. Thats fine but dont go treading on someone just because they arent as fortunate as you, or dont really car about whos car is faster or worth more. Like I said earlier im not talking about all younger people. There are exceptions.

25 when I bought my Z last summer.
I look about 18 (have to give DNA just to buy alcohol) so I get the "spoiled rich kid" comments a lot.
