Bought my new '09 Z at age 61, as a "pre-retirement gift" to myself. Still enjoying the car and will own her as long as I continue to be able to enjoy a sports car of this kind.

Well, we pay Allstate 182.00 a month for coverage on 3 cars which has our home morgage. Those cars are 2000 prelude, 2010 Maxima & 2011 370Z. I also own a 1966 SS396 Chevelle that I take to 2-3 car shows a year. It is insured sperately under Hagerty.
I am 54 and have enjoyed all cars my entire life. I guess I have have the best of both worlds. I can drive a new 370Z or cruiz my classic 66 big block hanging out with others enjoying classics on the summer weekends. As far has who gets financial help etc. I only care about what I have done in my life finacially. I took it upon myself to work and pay for everything on my own. It was a personal choice and decision that gave me personal satisfaction. cheers! |

My parents bought me my first Z (240Z) when I was 21, I bought several more between then and 1982 after I got a job ($18,000/year) and that was when interest rates were between 12% and 17% - I'd sell the previous Z just as the balloon payment would come due. That house of cards came to a screeching halt when we bought a house and had our first kid - I sold the 280ZX Turbo for a Honda Civic. I drove GMC pickups for the next several years because by the time I could afford a third car, I was paying for the cars I bought for my children just like my parents did. So I bought my most recent Z when I was 60.
