Insurance:(???

HEY forum I have a serious question that is literally between me getting a 370Z and not. So I am 15 and the driving age in New York has gone up to 18 ( With drivers ed). Now my uncle is a pretty keen racer and has a time attack car that within 24hrs can be put back from race spec to daily use and he said that if insurance wasn't a problem he would give it to me! I know crazy but his sponsors did get him a 458 Italia so i guess he doesn't need it. Now i havent gotten any quotes yet but I am curious if any 370z divers out there could tell me what the rate is for a 370z for a kid of 18yrs of age. I am also looking into a Evo X, STi, S2000, and a 135i. Even if you dont know could you try to give us a rough price point, that would be great. Thanks. This is my first post so i sure hope i get a good response,
Thanks for your time,

If you are for real and I have my doubts. Why not go on to anyone of the insurance websites and type in your info. Progressive will even give you quotes from several other companies. Insurance Takes a lot of things inti account age, car, area, use, record, deductible, others on the insurance.

But if the driving age in new York is 18 I dint think anyone will insure you without a license.

18 year old, 370z... ny.... lol.

I'd guess anywhere from 300-400 a month depending on what company you use... and that might even be low.

Call up progressive or something and get a quote. Just say your 18 and see what they say. Just make sure your sitting down when they give you the quote.

So your uncle's time attack car is a 370z? :icon14:

How much money/allowance are you going to get? Contact the insurance company in new year. When I was 18 in 2003, my insurance for my 1991 Nissan 240sx (car valued at $3000) cost me $1800 a year, stayed mostly the same 2 years afterwards. Now that I'm 26, it only costs me barely $300. I did test try a quote for a 350z when it was brand new and got a quote nearly topping $4200 a year.

If you're 15, don't key in on material things. I used my money to travel 4 (not including Canada and Mexico) different countries within 6 years of college. The experience itself far outweighs getting a brand new car....cuz you know....you can ALWAYS get a new car when you're older.

Those are some pretty darn expensive cars for a first time drivers. Best thing to do is call insurance companies, and get quotes. But imo get yourself a w/e car and drive that for awhile. Im sure the Z will be waiting for you. Now thats me talking from experience, but I know if I were you I would say screw that and take the Z now lol

Expect it to be anywhere from 2000-4000/year. Depending on your area it may go up even more.

When I was 18 I bought a brand new RSX-S and my insurance on it alone was about 1800 a year. But I also started driving since 16 with no points on my record. I remember my cousins when they turned 16 their dads bought them new 30k+ sports car. One of them had a s2000 and his rate was more than 2000.

I know a couple kids back home in brooklyn with sports cars and they are paying $6k a year in insurance. You won't see any real discounts till your 22ndbday. Something to consider.

You have 3 years until you get a license. When you do, come back and talk about cars. In the meantime, post up some pics of this "time attack" 370.

I currently have ALL STATE insurance and they are quoting me 150 a month.

I want pics of the Uncle's 458 Italia and the name of his sponsor.

I am 28, and USAA is quoting me 105/month full coverage for a 2011 370z. Then again I have another vehicle on the policy so its a bit cheaper with the multiple vehicle discount.

OP, hate to say it but insurance is going to kill you. I would guess you are going to be looking at least 200-300/month if not more.

I don't understand why all these young drivers feel like they need to get their dream car for their first vehicle. Why don't you just get a cheap decent looking car that runs good and when you finish school or get a career going then concentrate on buying an expensive sports car.

atx370z 09-11-2011 03:06 PM

Yeah, just wait until your uncle wants to give you his Ferrari

kayess 09-11-2011 03:17 PM

Please stay away from Progressive, im currently fighting them now...
