What was your best mod?

All of us or most of us here have modded the bejesus out of our Z's, but of all you have done to the car, what do you think improved it the best.
I've done the intake and exhuast, got the uptune and even some changes to the suspension and the car runs great! But about two months ago I had an lsd installed ( I have a base/touring that had an open diff.)and that put the car over the top. What good is all that hp when you can't put it to the street, not mention th overall improvement in handling and controll of the car.
So what was yiur best mod?

ImportConvert 09-09-2011 09:47 PM

Going to Spring Mountain and improving how I drive is the best "mod" I ever did for any performance car I have owned.

PapoZalsa 09-09-2011 09:57 PM

SO far the F.I. CBE....

djpathfinder 09-09-2011 10:16 PM

Dyno-tune with Uprev really cleaned the AFR up and pulled some untapped torque in the low to mid-range.

Rooskey 09-09-2011 10:27 PM

I really cant say to be honest. The mod that made the biggest difference in the but dyno would have to be the motordyne intake manifold, but as far as overall performance I would have to say the F.Int. headers. Although the NST pulleys did help the car rev a little quicker too.

Mike Z 09-09-2011 10:41 PM

single best mod was F.I exhaust because it made my car sound like a beast and i felt the increase in hp.

Kingbaby 09-09-2011 11:02 PM

shift knob...makes me happy!

Nikon FM 09-10-2011 12:00 AM

not really a "mod" but corner balanced and aligned.

Armonster 09-10-2011 12:19 AM

Stainless steel clutch line + helper spring.

In a close second would be the permanent sealant (Opti-coat, do a search).

DjSquall 09-10-2011 07:08 AM

Best mod I've done to my z is installing myself in it.

So far the Z1 34 Row oil cooler. All I can say it WOW. Steady 160 oil temps now at normal driving.

:iagree:Me too... the tune made my car a completely different animal.

TheGreatOne 09-10-2011 09:49 AM

So far the F.I. CBE, sounds, feel, and the compliments.

It was worth fighting with the wife when she saw the bill lol.

Mt Tam I am 09-10-2011 10:02 AM

Without the oil cooler I can't enjoy the car long. The sound of the exhaust and intakes happily reminds me I've modded with every gear change. The coil overs got rid of the body roll in a turn. They are all my favorites.

Oil cooler wins as I like driving all the way home without limp mode, so all the rest of the mod's are useless at this point.

BrianMSmith 09-10-2011 04:26 PM

Floor mats. That's about all I've done!!

Jamaica 09-10-2011 04:28 PM

boost!

atx370z 09-10-2011 07:48 PM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned tires...

My best mod was sticky 305's in the rear.

Ya know, I didn't think of that but this is a valid point. I didn't realize just how bad the stock tire were until I got the V12 on the back. Not to mention that they make the VDC less obnoxious!!!

I couldn't justify replacing them until they were toast though. I guess that is why I didn't think of them as a "mod".

Where in the World you live that you need an oil cooler to get home?

I think the oil needs to reach 180 to burn off deposits. You are running too cold and should install a thermostat. You're probably doing more harm than good lol

Glokwork 09-11-2011 11:19 AM

It's a tough choice between my wheels or the FI non resonated catback I put on 2 days ago

Yes, with 20mm spacers on front and rear. Front tire size is same as OEM.

chops 09-11-2011 05:26 PM

tranceformer 09-11-2011 05:46 PM

A few months ago I definitely would have said 'oil cooler' but after installing a JWT flywheel, I'm not sure which would be the favorite.

Was their a noticeable difference with the flywheel?

I have an appointment on Wednesday to drop my car off at UpRev and get JWT flywheel, 4.08 gears, AMS lightweight crank pulley, Berk exhaust (upgrading from JIC ypipe and TopSpeed) and a retune....

I'm hoping when i get my car back... it will be a whole new monster.. (which it should be)

it made a huge difference in 1st and 2nd gear. and that sounds like a good list of parts you're adding.

Hks intake :)

Methodical4u 09-12-2011 11:59 PM

I always heard the first mod was the one that produced the most power... so in that case I would say the ART pipes... a whole different car however, with my F.I. CBE it added such a nice tone and a little more power... so for me I would say my only 2 mods are my 2 favorites lol.
