wow, cant believe i missed the party. Haters gonna hate...simple as that. Only people that have owned both cars should be able to put any input in this. I'm going to say it straight out. The Evo is alot better for track use. I dont care what people can do with mods....straight from the factory the Evo is better. The 370z has the horrible issues with brake fade and oil temps. People say "oh the evo isnt even a sports car, its just a pos 4 banger...blah blah blah" Yea well a real sports car shouldnt be going into limp mode on the track due to oil issues. The 370z is suppose to be track ready from factory. But no, its not. Even if you want to weekend warrior your car you cant. My local track is 1.5 miles long. We get about 6-7 laps each run. I found using 3rd gear through the whole track and 4th on the rear stretch didnt give me the power i needed when i came out of the turns. So i had to use 2nd...which puts me at about 4000rpm during the turn. By lap 5 i was hitting limp mode. Total bs...cant even enjoy the car the way its suppose to be driven.
And to the guy bitching about the quality of bumps and **** like that for daily driving....if you are worried about that, go buy a mini van. While i had my 370z, i only spun out once on the track. I've been to the track with my Evo and got a little squirly....see said video.... EvoX @ Stratotech - YouTube Now that was my first time out at the track with the car and my second run. Not taking my lines correctly and not pushing the car to hard. One of my rear tires hit the edge of the track making me loose traction. The S-AWD system kept me from killing myself. The Evo is ALOT more forgiving the the 370z when it comes to mishaps. I hated the VDC system in the Z. It caused more issues then it did good things. But with the SAWD system in the evo...with the traction control off...its amazing. The Evo doesnt need a oil cooler or better brakes or this or that. Its ready for the track from the factory...the 370z isnt, simple as that. Now im not hating on the 370z...im just putting up straight facts. The Z does have better interior...i think any Evo driver will agree. Whether you like the design of the evo or z better..thats up to you...im 50:50 about it. But when the day ends. This 4 door sedan Evo beats the 370z sports car on the track. Now you can lock the thread.

Both awesome vehicles
Ive driven the 370z, my former co-worker has one. It's a VERY nice ride.
It is beautiful, and yet, I am proud to own an EVO. But, Id be proud to own either car. I also owned a Miata and 2 RX8's. I do think the oil cooler and "limp mode" thing are kinda large oversites for a well known Japanese carmaker, although most people probably never track their cars, I know I never will...but still what was Nissan thinking? |

According to who? C&D said the EVO is faster, but Top Gear said the 370 is faster. They are going to be very close, but I personally would pick the car with better power/weight ratio. Low speed courses will favor the the EVO with its turbo and short gears, it's not going to help them when you get to the long straights.

0-60 EVO 4.3 seconds 0-60 370z 4.9 seconds Less than a second difference but technically the EVO was quicker in both 0-60 and quarter mile times during the Road and Track eval/comparisons. |

Got my copy of the magazine delivered today. The part that makes me sad is they are comparing my car to a Miata and a Mini Cooper! What the hell Nissan! I still love my car though.

Hmm..awd vs rwd? You going to tell me the EVO is a faster car in the rain and snow too? See trap speed if you want to see the true power on the car.
My wife's old E55 does the quarter mile in the mid 12s. Buy the car with the most HP if you want to be fast at the drag strip (see Mustang GT) I don't have a problem with either car. It's a toss up between the two, not sure where people are coming up with their one sided conclusion. |

Yea sure if you want a nice sporty looking car to get you out of the "teenage bias group" then sure go with the 370z. Although i dont know many teens that own a EvoX unless mommy and daddy paid for it. And if you want something with better interior and sound proofing...go with the 370z. Me personally those are all optional bonuses. Like you i look for power:weight ratio, how the car reacts to mods, how the car performs on the track and how the car holds its value. Like i said, im not hear to bash the Z. I owned one, liked it at first but just not what i needed at the time and if a car cant even handle a short race at the track without going into limp mode...then screw it. Not to mention my Z was a damn hit and run magnet.

I am not a Nissan fanboy. I bought the Z because I couldn't stand the look of the EVO and can't afford a TTS (see my complaints about how much I hate Nissan's lack of customer service or their service department). Once again, it's all personal preference. Do you prefer Kim K or Jen A? B Last edited by cossie1600; 09-06-2011 at 11:37 PM. |

I agree and disagree on what you said. Yes its a good idea to upgrade the brakes and fluid if tracking. We had a evo driver at the track on the 2nd ofthe night, spray brake fluid all over his engine bay becausr he hit boiling point. Bit then again he has alot of power mods. I'm talking stock for stock the evo can handle the track better. You shouldnt have to buy a $700 oil cooler just to do some weekend track days.
