I had a B6 S4 (V8) that I sold and just got the Z. That car is fast, but the mod capability is limited and very pricey (2500 for headers and it requires dropping/pulling the engine).
I'd suggest a new A4, that's turbo charged and if you go Stasis Tuning (they have various Staged packages) you retain the Audi warranty! Granted Stasis is overpriced, but the value of keeping your warranty on your brand new Audi...and trust me, you'll need it. No warranty was the primary reason I sold my Audi --- too damn pricey when you get up there in miles.... If you want to spend more, go new S4 (supercharged v6). Otherwise, STi all the way! Had an 04 sti w/~320whp (dynod). Great car. Edit: OR, ****, if you really wanna have fun, get a B5 S4 (twin turbo v6 awd)....
