I don't care because I DO use the one in my Z. But I think it takes away some beauty of the Z

Discuss.

Hmmm.....

RCZ 11-24-2008 10:57 PM

The JDM version often has the wiper, while the USDM doesnt. Its the same with Subaru.

cstr_Cali 11-24-2008 11:15 PM

Its' not meant for aesthetics. Its' meant for functionality.

True that. No wiper on the USDM model:

I live in Oregon. I will be opting for the (possible) option for a rear windshield wiper.
Having a windshield that flat, how could you not opt for it if you live in the NW or NE? Aesthetics, aesmechtics RainX doesn't work that well.:driving:

Dav 11-25-2008 03:24 PM

Yeah, it's not good looking..
My Cayman hasn't got it and I've noticed it's not a big problem. But I think that it depends on the car; some say that the new Z's big butt doesn't come handy in parking maneuvers.. It would be worst in the rain.

You're right. I hope cars for all markets are equipped with this feature.

RCZ 11-25-2008 06:57 PM

Its most likely not going to be an option either. Chances are that if you want a wiper youre going to have to overpay for the assembly and then do some careful cutting, or pay more for the bodypart.

I don't see sh*t in rainy days. If my car has been parked in the lot and it's been raining, it doesn't matter it's day or night, I gotta use my rear wipers. Oh BTW, rainX =

jaesung83 11-26-2008 12:30 AM

sh** they better not put a wiper blade in the rear windshield! if aftermarket guys make carbon fiber trunk, they gonna jack up the labor cost to disassemble the wiper blade n' that means more money out of my pocket!! imma pay **** load of money to take out the rear windshield newayz. why they gotta make it worst, n' put a wiper blade on it.
you dunt need to see out ur rear window when you drive it doesn't help!

i drive a 05 toyota 4runner and i got 5% tint all around, i cant see sh** out my windows and i got a wiper blade on the rear windshield i never use it. so dunt put one on this car.

BanningZ 11-26-2008 01:12 AM

Its settled then. jaesung83 does not want a wiper.:ugh2:

Nissan370z 11-26-2008 05:37 PM

It'll be funny if they take the time to remove the rear wiper blade but not that round thing on the back bumper, lol!

Dont worry, I'll be the first to sell color matched "Rear Wiper Delete®" kits if they dont remove the wiper. Also will sell "That Round Thing On the Back Bumper Delete®" Kits

What is this "round thing"? The gas cap? The Exhaust? The Nissan emblem? The third brake light?

nogoodname 11-28-2008 11:02 AM

interesting, It doesnt make a difference to me. I don't need a rear wiper.

something else to really consider will be the blind spots, that's gonna be a PIA.

the rear windshield looks long but it really is just like 10 inches tall..lol

I love having a rear wiper, especially on a car with such a (relatively) flat rear glass.

bertoccino 02-02-2009 10:33 PM

i guess this didn't make it over. good! it looks cleaner

wolfman101 02-02-2009 10:53 PM

I was looking at one on the floor in Japan, and it Had the wiper. Looks fine if you ask me.
Side note:
I can't wait for this car...improved looks AND performance! Finally he Z-dudes around where I live will be able to give me a decent run in my SRT!:P

silverpence 02-02-2009 11:28 PM

A rear wiper is great news! I don't use it that often on my 350Z but I'm definitely happy to have one during the rainy/snowy days. I thought it was pretty odd the 370 didn't come with a rear wiper or heated side mirrors but now that the rear wiper showed up I guess I can be hopeful we'll get heated side mirrors too in Canada (fingers crossed).

blacknbean 02-02-2009 11:52 PM

im glad the USDM doesnt have it as i have removed it on past cars to save weight and i think it looks cleaner. if your that concerned put some rain-X on the windows and be done with it

The Weapon 02-02-2009 11:55 PM

From what i could tell from test driving the 370, i couldn't see out the rear window anyways without rain. Having a wiper when it is raining, isn't going to make that any better. Besides i've noticed if i am driving fast enough the water just beads right off faster than wipers take it off. :)

I never cared much for my wiper on the 350Z, I'm happier with it off.

Z34drifty 02-03-2009 12:06 AM

I need it here in Washington it rains mostly everyday here so the one on my 350z was used and needed.

Just drive REALLY fast! That will get that pesky water off that window! :D J/K

OK, I wanted the rear-wiper, but that looks really bad. I retract my wanting it and now will settle for rain-x.

370zsport09 08-21-2010 05:47 PM

Gangsta Park...I always back in....no issues with rain

Can't barely see out the rear window as it is... who cares if there's a little water on it.

OldGuy 08-21-2010 09:30 PM

I don't want one as I take my Z garage queen out only on dry days.

optiontrader 08-22-2010 12:57 AM

Yup on thread resurrection... LOL.

But on topic, if you live in the coastal desert where it never rains, it ain't a problem. Besides, as someone said before, you can't see anything rearwards anyways...

GingaBreadMan 08-22-2010 10:22 AM

Glad I purchased mine when I did. Definitely don't want a wiper in the back. The Z doesn't ever get driven in the rain.

You obviously didn't realize this thread was made in 2008, before the Z was released.
