I even asked the dealer about it and they're were clueless. They thought Nissan didn't create some sort of locking mechanism.

Kind of sad how little effort these guys put into their jobs nowadays. Probably some kid in his early 20s?

I got lucky and found a dealer who actually bothers to understand the cars. He went ALL through it the day I bought it. He went through so much, I'm sure I forgot half of it.

Yes you can lock the gas cap door by the fob or by the door switch.
But i stumbled across this by accident. If your gas cap door has the right amount of tension on it when you push the unlock on the fob the door will pop
open. I don't mean pop wide open but it will open up without having to push in on it...........

Several of the dealers I visited during my Z search were just like that and had NO CLUE about the car they were trying to sell me. One guy assured me both in email and on the phone that this particular car had the sport package. Then I get there (2 hour drive!) and it doesn't have the freakin sports package. He fessed up and told me he didn't actually "do the work" and go out to the car and check, he just listened to another guy. I can't believe anyone would ever buy a car from that guy...
