Owned a Datsun B210, 300ZX and a 350Z. Heritage of the Z.

BTW, bada$$ car!

370zgal 08-26-2011 09:50 AM

I think the 370 and Cayman are 2 of the best looking sport cars. I purchased the 370 on looks alone. Love the sexy curves and style. Plus it is a great value.

onzedge 08-26-2011 09:52 AM

I bought the 370 because it is a Z and probably the best one made -- at least technically. I have owned Z's since the early 80's (81, I think). My 370 is my 11th Z.

kenchan 08-26-2011 10:12 AM

i had an immediate emotional connection with the 370Z when i first saw one driving down the street. kinda blew me away. the last time i felt this way was back in 2003 when i first saw the G35C.

not many car impress me emotionally these days. they might look cool or have decent specs on paper/watever but it doesn't move me.

I agree with the emotional connection part. The Z is not the fastest, best handling car in the world, but it is a Z. One need say no more, IMO. The exceptions to this are the 300ZX's built between 84 and 89, along with any 2+2's.

Oh yeah, Happy Friday, Mr. Kenchan. :tiphat:

My husband traded a '86 944 for a '90 300ZX Turbo in 1990. He enjoyed that Z much more then the Porsche. He regrets selling that car to this day. Styling wise the current 370 is just knock out!

TreeSemdyZee 08-26-2011 10:44 AM

'Cuz the salesman told me that it was a chick magnet.

He lied. :roflpuke2:

Slade 08-26-2011 10:44 AM

My 944 died a couple years ago and I got tired of riding around in a sedan.

I'm in the same boat with Ken Chan, I fell in love with the 370Z when I first saw it. My cousin got one when they first came out and I had a chance to ride in one, the rest was history. The 350Z is a nice car but it never really grabbed me like the 370, when I saw it I was like "gotta have one"

There aren't many cars I'd take over a 370Z if I'm looking for a sports car. A GTR, Cayman S, 911 turbo...but even if I had that kind of cash for those cars I'd probably just throw a twin turbo in the Z and keep going :driving:

sboden 08-26-2011 10:55 AM

Sexy and in this area rare compared to Camaros, mustangs, corvettes and such. I loved my G35 coupe and it was time for a change, so stayed in the family Z/G family.

TheGreatOne 08-26-2011 10:56 AM

Wanted a 350Z for probably close to 5 yrs. Initially saw the 370Z and was not sure, but then fell in love, became a sick obsession.

Loved all Z cars and the 370 seemed to capture the lines of the Datsun again...

The fact that my Z can turn heads more when a GT3 is right next to me is a testament to the Z heritage...

yes it is!

bit of both!

Footloose301 08-26-2011 11:11 AM

I bought my Z because I have always been a car person and 6 years ago I bought a Nissan Titan that I had to have for construction. Well, I got laid off so after I got another job, I didn't need the truck anymore so I searched for cars. Almost bought a STI/EVO but then got a killer deal on a used 2009 Black 370Z with sport package. Great car, loved it, it ended up getting totaled. So, I just had to buy another. I bought a brand new 40th Anniversary out of the showroom and haven't looked back. However, it is my daily driver and I've got 22,7XX miles on it and haven't had this 1 year yet. So, I'm looking to buy another Titan Crew Cab LE for a daily and keep the Z for the weekends.

had my roadster since may...only 3500km ;(

Doug&Michelle 08-26-2011 12:40 PM

It was either the Z or a Challenger SRT. I'm afraid the Dodge is a polished turd. The Z will be the better car in the long run. Both look amazing but the Z wins out.

somatic 08-26-2011 12:49 PM

because i drove it :)

jazz 08-26-2011 12:58 PM

i almost went with the 911scab but the insurance was $500 per month the Z is $650 per year lol

also think i have more fun in the Z then i would of in the 911s

Oh wait, you're a girl. When i told my co-worker my next car after the Z will be the cayman.

he said the cayman look sissy.

so it's true, you're girl and you like the cayman.

My hope is dashed.

I've always liked the Z cars. I saw the 370Z in a magazine and I immediately told my wife that I have to have one when it's time to buy a new car.

We were about to buy a VW Tiguan for my wife when she said that I should buy the Z instead. I have a cool wife! She likes riding in the 370z but she doesn't want to drive it. She calls it the "Hot Car". :)

I never miss the Chicago Auto Show and the 09 I walk in to the Nissan direction to see what they had because I was going to b in the market the following yr, when I saw the Z it was like when you look at one of the hottest females ever and you can't stop starring at her lol so I believe it took 5 min in the inside of the Z when I told my girl this is it I'm getting it =)) and a yr later it was in my garage 2010 Z. And can't b happier.

wilsonp 08-26-2011 05:50 PM

Got tired of taking the NSX out of town for repairs (every 6 months), so didn't really want a Porsche, looked at the (affordable) two seaters and decided it was the best bang for the buck. I may have considered the Z4 if the current model had been available then and will probably still get a Cayman S PDK someday when I get over my out of town dealership flashbacks (great dealer, but 50 mile tow gets annoying).

Unless I make some money and buy something more exotic :D

Because just after i got my 2009 Audi A4 Quattro, i randomly ended up in a Nissan dealership parking lot look at it, a total of 6 times, so at the one year mark i lost 25k on the A4 and left with a Z i ordered and it had 6 miles on it. Haven't looked back or at anything else..... and i would buy another if i could to keep completely stock.

z2z 08-26-2011 06:13 PM

Because I live my life a quarter mile at a time and in those 20 seconds or less nothing else matters.

gr8-wrx 08-26-2011 06:35 PM

Our ZR was totally an impulse buy. Was on our way to CostCo and stopped by the Nissan dealer. Traded in our WRX.

Apparently, the dealer having their cars viewable from the street works for them. :icon17:

370SteeZ 08-26-2011 07:05 PM

My dad owned a 280zx, my best friend's dad drove a 280z, that same best friend drives a 350z, so I thought I should join the club & carry the legacy. Lol

& besides.. the 370z is a badass sports car!

Fast, sporty, fun, affordable (for me), and it looks like a million bucks!!

birdmanx1 08-26-2011 07:32 PM

I got the Z because I never got over my 300ZX after I got involved in a serious crash. I was always longing for another Z. Kinda like the girlfriend you can't get over just because she dumped you, you want to get her back so you can dump her :icon17:

In spite of owning a P.O.S. B210 - 1977 and my first new car, I bought a Z! :rofl2:

Seriously, having owned a few RX-7s and a Supra pre-children, once little gurney went off to college, I traded in my 2005 TL for the third G37S delivered in New Orleans. I was blown away with the build quality, but disappointed with the bulk, and frankly the styling.

The G35 was a beautiful car with an underachieving interior. The G37 has the interior, but the styling went cold on me pretty quick.

The 370Z is a totally different animal for me - sexy, sexy styling, great build quality, and just enough luxury in the interior without getting too plush. On the 30 mile drive home from the dealership last week, it reminded me so much of my 1983 RX-7. I didn't realize how much I missed that car until then.

I thought about a 911 as I have always lusted for one. I thought about an M3 too, but this is my daily driver, and I just don't want the hassles of endless minor glitches and outrageous maintenance. Just listening to three co-workers compalin about their M3's convinced me to stay with Nissan.

I washed it for the first time today and look forward to seriously detailing it this weekend. Some people play golf or fish, I like cleaning and driving my car.

I have become addicted to this Board. I appreciate the tips and the advice. I want to learn how to wrap my interior pieces in CF like Ken did. I installed my GTR button and Nav by-pass today.

Next up is a carbon fiber fang from the Z store. That comes next week. I'd like to do the EVO rear fog light too. Should have my VentureShield clear bra installed by Labor Day.

I've joined the Z Club of Houston, and will attend my first Cars and Coffee next weekend.

Emotionally attached to this car? You bet.

Cheers.
