Default Offset questions -.-;;

So I thought I had good concept of offsets but now I am confusing myself -.-;;
Now that I am really close to buying some new wheels, I wanna make sure I know what I am talking about, so bare with me guys =) and thanks for reading =)

The way I had it in my mind, the higher the offset the wheel will be more inward to the center of the car. The lower the offset the will wheel will be more outward from the center of the car.

So the way I see it, if you take the lowest offset it would be very difficult to see the wheels because wheel will be way inward to the center of the car. And vice versa, if the offset is really high then the wheel will be hella sticking out because it would be outward from the center.

Am I good so far? =( ?!?!?!

So now let me apply this in actual application in life =)
So if i buy a set of square setup such as 19x10.5, and want to make it less aggressive, it would be best to go with the highest offset possible?
And vice versa again, if I buy a square setup 18x7 and want to make it look more aggressive I want to get a lowest offset possible?

Am I on the right track or am I smokin cRak?
lol... thanks for reading guys =)

A +10 will stick out further than a +20. Imagine the rear fender is flush at 0.. keep adding higher offset to it and the wheel will sink further in and be tucked.. +5 + 20 and +30 being stock.

Yep. Smaller number = more aggressive

Hopefully now I know what I am talking about...
Also... Do all offsets work the same? As in...
lets see...
here is an example...
There are two sets of wheels:
volk gts 19x9.5 +20 and 19x10.5 +30
volk te37 19x9.5 +20 and 19x10.5 +30

Since the offsets are the same... they would look similar in how aggressive it would look?
What I am trying to ask is even if its different brand or model offsets are universal?

With that being said what offsets don't workout?
Like I here people talking about spacers and you need certain spacers to clear whatever...

Yeah those would be the same.. but say the wheel is a 19x9 +20 then it will be sunk in more than the 19x9.5 +20

and it really depends on what wheel to know if a specific offset will work..

Like a +22 Varrstoen will not work on the front of our car, but a +22 Te-37 will work. Even though they look identical..

OOOO I C =)
So it really depends on the wheel...
And as for 19x9 and 19x9.5... i understand its because of that extra 0.5 =)
Thanks bro =)

Also you know starting from what offset volk TE and GT series would be causing problems?

+22 is a good offset for the front if you have sport brakes. +12 is better but also pretty aggressive. The rear is kinda up to what tire size you want to run.. +12 looks good on the rear but a lot of people add a 10mm spacer on top of that making it a +2.

There is a a lot that goes into this and I can't explain it all to you, so go use that search button at the top right of your screen
