Why are you laughing? He wasn't kidding, even if he was partially wrong - imperial gallon is smaller. 1 imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallons.

Thus, US MPGs and European MPGs vary due to metric differences.

America's wonderful education system at work.

+1 for the stripes !

Should have converted to metric... imperial units were great when the Old King's men needed to trade 10 stones of wool for 5 gallons of goat milk. We need to get with the program.

i believe clarkson was referring to the quality of the engine noise, not the ride. Nissan really need to address this issue and if they have to charge a little extra, then so be it.

An Imperial gallon is larger than an American gallon ... your ratio above is correct 1 imp gallon = 1.2 US gallons ... put that ratio backwards, 1 US gallon = .832 imp gallon ... america's education system indeed :) j/k

AlphaSnacks 08-24-2011 12:43 AM

Woops, right. 1 imperial gallon contains more than an American gallon. So he was actually totally right.

Waltong 08-24-2011 06:27 AM

You're all wrong. Us Brits buy our fuel in bloody Litres now! £1.34 per bloody litre to be exact!!

American inferiority complex and the need to feel superior by belittling another person clearly at work.
I honestly never heard of an imperial gallon. How the British measure there gas is of little importance to me. Every country I've been to uses metric litres and kilometers, not gallons or miles. Almost none of the world uses the gallon system. Anyway, its a waste of time, dealing with people like you.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the ride being harsh on a daily driver basis, but what does he know...he bought a Mercedes! :icon17:

(OK, not just a Mercedes, but an SLK :yum:).

Actually, thats not true. I deal with selling liquids internationally. Most of the time its done per Kilo, sometimes in Gallons, rarely in liters... Maybe it matters per industry... From what ive seen, Europe tends to favor Liters...

It is measured in liters, kiloliters that is. No way is a liquid measured in a unit that measures mass.

Well believe it or not, but its true... When selling in barrels/drums, people like to have the per gallon price... It can all be converted to whatever they prefer anyway... again, its just what I see in my industry...
