Default gas tank capacity

The other day I was running almost empty bc there werent any gas stations around. The info section that estimates the miles left were flashing ---- and I still managed to drive 10 more miles after that.

When I finally filled up the tank, only 17 gallons were pumped in.

The specs of the 370z says the gas tank capacity is 19 gallons.

So there is still 2 gallons left in the tank? Any ideas?

There's a video in YouTube I watch long ago wished I saved it, where it says that the indicator for the gas is not accurate. So don't know but I left it one time to empty as well and filled up 18 gallons.

The Z is programmed to say empty with one gallon left in the tank. If you are at almost empty. Then assume approx, 2 gallons are in the tank which leaves you with 17gal to fill.

ADVICE: treat 1/4 tank mark like your car is empty and fill up. You don't want to starve these cars, or any car for that matter.

My tank has never been below half. She's never too thirsty.

Don't you run the risk of sediment getting picked-up if you run the tank too low?

I rarely go below 1/4 tank.

Ive always heard that the condensation/water builds up at empty so its good to keep it not too low...

Back in the day when underground gas containers were metal and would rust, yes.

Now, they're much more resistant to corrosion which makes "sediment" a non-issue.

I may have set a record - 18.739 fill-up yesterday on drive back from NOLA. My computer was forecasting I still had 40 mi range when I only had about 15 to reach my intended fill-up point; but then stated flashing --- when I was < 10 miles away. BTW, I was cruising 90-100 most of the trip and my overall average was 22.7 mpg.

usually there is 2 gallons that are unusable. Go with the general consensus and fill up at quarter tank.
