trip report
I just took a trip across country. Mpg on the way was 30.5 but keep in mind a lot of that was cruise control set at 70. I was taking it easy since when i started my trip the car only had 1500 miles on it. Coming back i was getting about 28 - 29 mpg. There was more spirited driving....much of it in the 80 - 85 mph range. Once i got back in texas headed south on hwy 59 i drove several extended periods at 90 - 100 mph. The car handles like a puerto rican hooker. I was only getting about 26 mpg at that high speed. My oil temp never exceed 258f at any time. Of course driving at normal speed (70 mph) the oil temp would run about 250f. Up north the car ran cooler but high temps in pennsylvania were only in the low 80s. Im glad to be back in texas. Now i need to wash all the dead bugs off of the front of the car.

Sounds like a fun trip. I've been reluctant to do a long trip in the Z. One reason is for the big lump of miles I would put on it going to Florida and back or to California and back. The second reason is because of comfort.
What's the longest you were in the car at once? Were you sore after?

Where in Texas do you live and from what dealer did you purchase your car. I'm new to Houston and still trying to find the best dealer. One member here suggested Baker Nissan North.

I bought the car at mossy nissan. Talk to kirk.....internet sales. Hes a good guy.
I speny about 17 hrs in the car on the first day. Id stop for gas...stretch the legs etc. Really no worse than driving my toyota tundra. Same level of soreness/stiffness. Any car trip over a long distance is physically taxing. |

I have the base car. Automatic. But it handled great. I dunno if i could tell the difference with the sports pkg....but i know the sport pkg has bigger brake calipers and pads.
