You are the second member to report that same issue. Not sure why people would take the time and go out of their way to do that. Haters gonna hate!

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's Southern California, but I don't get any of these 'haters' or feelings of jealousy from other drivers. I mean, really, we drive a Z. It's an introductory sports car. I see more 911 Turbos and GT3s than Z's. Why would somebody hate on a 35K car? Don't get me wrong, I love my car, but people here are too into themselves to care that I have a Z.

I think we should remember: it takes balls to drive a car like the 370z. The car doesn't care what other people think of it. Neither should you.

Of course it's human nature to desire what you don't or can't have. Respect is a positive result, jealousy or hatred is a negative result.

Old thread but yeah we established the fact that some areas dont get the same hate, attitude, and etc in the Z.

Agreed.

Is there a universal Z sign for approval?

I ask because I was on the interstate the other day when heavily tinted & stickered 350Z caught up with me. They slowed down when he got next to me and gave me two quick revs (nice exhaust) then continued on his/her way at their original speed. I couldn't see if they were waving, thumbs-up, or giving me the finger because of the limo tint.:roflpuke2:

I took it as a "nice Z" gesture. :tiphat:

What do you think? :icon17:

I've only had my Z for two weeks, but the stare-downs at lights are ridiculous. As bad as it was when I had my WRX. I have zero interest in racing, let alone street racing. I think every 18-24 year old in a Musamaro assumes that we're lined up for a drag race. :bowrofl:

A lot of people have race car fanstasies. They imagine that they are driving a car that is meant for the podium...if they only drove on a track. Our Z's really do go on tracks and a lot of us run them regularly.

Even people who drive performance cars like Mustangs almost never put them in a real performance situation like HPDE. Hell, most Z's never see a track.

So, say you drive a Camry XLE (you know, it has a docile 6, but hell it isn't a 4!) and imagine that with your 6, you have a fast car. Guaranteed that the Camry has never seen a track. Z's look fast, so seeing one will either generate some kind of anger or a desire to compete. Do these people also give Porsches the finger? I wonder.

Nobody has flipped me off. I've had my Z for about a year and a half. But then I live in the Northwest where people tend to be polite and not inclined to do stoplight dragging. On the interstate I have had some close calls with SUV's attempting to merge into my lane while I am right next to them. That's probably not a desire to kill the Z but more that we are hard to see from way up there.

I believe the universal sign for approval is the head nod (hard to see through limo tint...).

When people act dumb next to me on the road, I just stare straight ahead (wearing dark sunglasses) you've just got to bada** them until they go away :)

I just read all of these pages describing how people act toward your cars. Wow! See, I live in a small town in North Carolina and my Z is my DD. Prior to this I had a '07 350Z too and I have NEVER had ANY experience EVEN REMOTELY similar to what you guys are describing. I get nothing but complements.

BTW, when I'm not driving the Z... I AM THE REDNECK IN THE BIG DODGE 4WD PICKUP, but I would never hassle anybody because of what they drive.

I guess people are just nice here. :tiphat:
