it's about likelihood to file a claim, not driving skill. People doing well financially will replace stuff on their own dime, rather than file a claim (to avoid the increased premium)

Tell that to your insurance company, been doing it for 5-10 years already.

Just got my renewal. About $690 per year, which includes a "curb weight to horsepower surcharge" of $105.

I have the last laugh...with my mods I should be paying a surcharge of around $125!

Glad my insurance does not charge me on that.

Erie Insurance. Overall, I can't complain about them. Been with them for probably close to 20 years.

But its just basic coverage with uninsured added and towing.
Does this seem about right. And why do they run
a credit check on you when its the law to carry insurance anyway.
You have to make the payments or its a fine big time here.
They run a credit check because people with good credit are historically better at life in every way. Driving included.

That isn't bad. My Infiniti G20 costs me about $80 a month for about the same coverage. 25/m/unmarried. I do live in La though, which is the #1 most expensive state to insure a car in.
