Monterey Blue: What's Up With the Variance in Color??
ok, so i've ordered a white z, but it's starting to look like i may not be able to get that color. i'm considering blue, but in alot of the pics i've seen, it looks like there are some drastic changes in color tone when the car is in direct sunlight.
to me it seems that when in the light, it appears sort of "powder" blue, but in just a bit of shade, the blue looks much darker... does anyone else notice this? can any blue owners shed some light, i.e. is it a camera/flash thing, or does the color really change that much depending on the light? thanks! |

It really varies depending on the lighting conditions. It's due to the metallic in the paint, which reflects light. So the darker it is, the more subdued the blue tends to look.

Isn't that the point of having pearl/metallic paint? The look of the car changes drastically based upon lighting.
I like it that way.

FWIW, I don't think it's THAT drastic. One thing that might help you is if you view the vehicle from pics that are all taken with the same camera, as that'd at least take out the variable of different cameras. Here are links to a couple of my albums if you want to look at my pics.

Yeah I hear that the supply of 370Zs is particularly tight up in Canada.
