Was looking to possibly buy a Shelby
Like the title says I was really considering in getting one so I brought the z in to see what they would give me for it. Well they offered me 25000. I lol and said no way. Guy was impressed with my car just wasn't sure what he could get for it so he had to play it safe. Ohh well if they would have offered 38000 I would have rolled with it and bought the Shelby

25k is actually a pretty good offer on your car from a dealer.
|
Take off the Tt sell it, then trade it in.
|
Yeah I'm surprised they would even take it with a twin Turbo kit on it.
|
I'm with shaun and dan... $25k is a good dealer offer for a car like yours. I'm even surprised they were willing to make an offer for it.

I was offered 8k on my S, just to put things in perspective.

KBB is always on the high side. When I traded my Z the market rate was around $26-27k for it, though KBB was saying 29k when that simply wasn't happening. I ended up getting $26,500 for it and that's exactly what the car sold for a few months later.

If you wanted to get money out of your car as-is your only bet would be to sell it privately to an enthusiast who will put value on your mods. Otherwise you'd have to part it out as much as you can.
It's probably best you wait for the Shelby anyways. The 2013 refresh is due in spring of 2012 (Mustang model years start in spring, not fall) and it's due for some more power and some other tweaks. Might be worth the wait. During that time you might want to see if you can get any offers from private buyers. |

I think $38k would be a stretch, even private party. But you might be able to clear $30k PP with your mods if you find the right buyer. You could probably take KBB on your car + maybe 50% of the value of your mods to get an idea of what you might be able to realistically get for it.
|
Wow really I seen people sell there tt z here and al they had was just that and exhaust and get close to 38k
|
You might get lucky. Depends on the market.
|
I was actually looking at my options too. It makes a whole lot more sense to part out the car and then sell it privately. Whether with mods or without, you will definitely get more money privately. Thinking seriously about it.
|
Yeah, I didn't have anything really serious on my Z but I was going to get the same trade in value modded or stock. I was able to part it out and recoup about 50% of my cost on the mods, so it worked out pretty well. It's almost always best to part it out.
Raul, what are you looking at? I am coming up on a full year with the 5.0 so I'm looking at my options as well. |

Steve, honestly... I might hold off a while with a normal car and then pickup a GT-R.
|
Is this like a team overvaluing their players or something?

Yeah dealers dont use the Kelley Blue Book, they use the Black Book
|
That's honestly the reason why I hesitate to Sc or tt.... It adds zero value to the car. Just like that, poof, 11k down the tubes. If anything modding it even lowers the value.

After having the 5.0 for a year is there something about it that is losing its appeal that is making you look at other options? |
You guys are crazy for looking to get a different car after owning a car for ONE year...... yikes. Then again, if you have the means I guess, why not. LOL. For me, I keep my cars at least 7 years if not more.

I'm trying to force myself to hold on to this one for at least two years... maybe more. |
Steve, you wanna trade? Straight up???
:stirthepot: |
was kidding :D

The same thing is starting to happen with the 5.0. I've been looking at some BMWs. But I kind of want to force myself to hold on to it a little longer just from a pure financial point of view. I'm very happy with the car, so it's not that big of a deal if I "force" myself to keep it. |

Only girls drive white cars :stirthepot: :p
