In all honesty it's still a great value if you are comparing it to a Porsche 911, though. A similarly equipped 911 would probably run you $105-115k.

"great value compared to a Porsche" is like a flu being "healthy compared to pneumonia".

Luxury Performance cars are just that, luxury. They're a waste of money, and that's what makes them great.

People rant and rave about the 911, but in my experience they are nothing more than a 370Z with shitty weight distribution and a touch more power until you get into the TT and GT2/3 models, and those are FAR past the 100K mark.

I've been looking around and its a very sad thing, but you can get a GT-R for about the same price as an M3 these days. That's a hands down win for the GT-R.

Whoever said something about the reliability and daily drivability of the M3 and 335...those two cars are the definition of GREAT daily drivers. Much more so than the GT-R, specially when you consider that BMW offers FREE maintenance, rotors, oil, brake pads, etc.

Porsche would be nice too, but you're looking at a pre-pdk cayman or an older Carrera for a similar price of -- you guessed it-- a GT-R. Problem with porsche is that you're buying a car out of warranty so if something breaks....well....there goes that trip to the bahamas you were planning.

They are fairly reliable cars these days...makes more sense for the company to do that when they are offering free maintenance. Yeah the M3 is expensive, but you do get a lot of car for the money regardless, specially when you buy it slightly used. You end up paying mid 60s low 70s for an 80k car.

First, I have heard that the 335's TT setup is not very reliable. I don't have hard facts on that, and maybe it was addressed at some point, but I heard that motor takes a beating.

Secondly, BMW offers free maintenance for the life of the warranty, after which your wallet will asplode. Same with most German makes. You pay that up front. It's part of the premium. If you plan on owning after warranty, it's pricey. A member here sold his 911 for a Z because he was tired of paying maintenance and repair costs.

So, you gotta pay to play. If you've got the cheddar, then good for you.

hummmmm... okay cause when i had the MINI which is your poorman's BMW, it wasn't a reliable car at all. and the stories i hear from 335i coupe owners that i know, they keep having annoying little issues with their cars.

i want to reconsider getting the 135i coupe or even the 3-series after my G35C's done as my dd... so if they are getting their shitt together, that's good news for me. otherwise im going to get the next gen G-coupe for sure.

anyway, back to talking shelby's.

BMW maintenance is not nearly as bad as most people think it is. Just don't go to the dealer for non-warranty work.

They fixed the 335i engine issues as well.

With the comp package, but I don't wan the other stuff.

The gtr costs twice as much, and is automatic.
