Love tapped.....by a woman
It all happened when I was at a stop sign before leaving my gated community. I was minding my own business until....BOOM! A civic have rear ended me. Luckly it wasnt traveling too fast...maybe a roll. However, her(no surprise there) license plate bolt made a nice little mark on my rear bumper right above the fog light...with a side of damaged clear coat.....and a slight, barely noticable, dent. And yes, I got all of her personal info. (ill post the picture soon)
Now the question is......should I make this a big deal? Because I really dont want to go through the body work, insurance, etc. After all it wasnt a big crash or anything but I dont really want to let this pass by with ease. I just love my car too much to just simply have it all covered under my wing. I was thinking of having her pay just for a rear bumper detailing, though the bolt mark will still be there. Any suggestions???? |
first off i would like to appoligize for all woman drivers out there that arent ********. i have been told by many people (mostly guys) that i am the best woman driver they know.
But to stay on topic do u know anyone at a body shop that can take a look? maybe give u an idea of what it would cost to get the dent out and maybe the scratch? and if not what it would cost to have a bumper replaced? i know in NY that most insurances have a $500 deducatable so anything over that the lady wont have to pay. but i mean its your car and it wont hurt you at all to go through her insurance. honestly its your car and u spend way to much money on it to just let something go expecialy if it wasnt your fault... go get a quote from someone (including to replace the clear bra) and bring it to the lady. she may choose to pay out of pocket just to keep the insurance out of it. you wont be making a big deal youll be doing something normal. hope that helped |
I began an experiment the other day.
I drive along, and wait for someone to do something dumb as hell. Like cut off a semi, run a red-light, etc. Then I pull up next to them and see if they are male or female. I automatically refuse to count them if I know their gender before they piss me off, UNLESS they piss me off in a quantifiable way (driving below 50 on a 70mph road in the fast-lane, or running a redlight.) This eliminates bias. So far 5 female, 2 males, have done dumb enough stuff that I have gotten pissed about it. I have another friend that did this for a LONG time and has a bunch of data. Women DOMINATE the dumbass heap. |

What's with all the hate on women?

turn it in to her insurance, no big deal... just life. maybe she'll learn to pay attention after her insurance rates go up.
|
I'd ask to destroy her cell phone and call it even.

Skewered her insurance company best I could. Made friends with a lawyer and a chiropractor, as well. OH, btw, one time a guy rammed my mustang GT at a gas-pump (long story, horse-trailer, etc.). Anyway, I got out and did my damndest to bait him into throwing a punch. His wife came out of the gas station though and simmered him down. He later turned out to be okay, and even though his **** bargain-basement ghetto insurance company (Progressive) refused to cover my damage (I was parked...pumping fuel...he admitted full fault....) because it was on private property (Gas-station/trukstop just outside of Houston, the one with the plastic palm-trees for you TX natives), he cut me a check for the avg. of the 3 estimates I faxed him. Stand-up guy. |
Op- its really up to you if you want to get that fixed or not. Make a claim, get your check and keep the money.

That's what I did the last time a bitch hit one of my cars. $1700 in the pocket, and $20 in wax/microfiber later, and a push-fastener, and it was G2G as far as I was concerned. You pay insurance. Why not get some of your money back? Since you have insurance, what happened her company's fault. Your insurance payment allows you to claim against her company, the way I see it. Do it. |

Atleast go collect the money you are owed |
As she was at fault, I'm not sure how the law dictates in California, but only her policy should be effected by the occurrence. Therefore I'd go ahead and collect what you're owed.

OP depending on how bad it is, you might want to consider taking the cash. i got the smallest nick on my rear fender from a lady that slowly backed into me in a parking lot. I got a quote for $1400 and she paid me in cold hard cash! just buffed it out when i got home and you can barely notice it now lol

Take the money. Figure out what you do with it later.

Better than being Love-tapped by a man, in my personal opinion.

I think we can leave gender out of this entire thread?
edit: don't use the word 'bitch' instead of woman. |

And it's entirely true, doesn't matter what gender the offender was. :roflpuke2: |

how about this: if she's hot nail her and tell her not to worry about it... then put in a claim against her insurance and on to the next one
|
f her bro , call her insurance.. end of story... new bumper and new paint...

I would get that fixed regardless of how miniscule the damage. That would bother me to no end. Again, thats just me

correct about the bitch thing but i must say as a girl i completly agree that usualy a bad driver is a woman. why? i have no clue. |
Kept the $ on a $1,500 insurance claim for the car I traded for the 370Z. If it isn't that bad keep the $ but remember you may have trouble down the road if you don't have proof of repair and it gets hit again. Either way have a body shop inspect it there may be much more hidden damage under the bumper cover.
