Poll about vdc on/off....
Hey all, just want to make a poll about who uses their VDC on all the time vs off all the time. this is also just in perfect weather, I think it would be obvious to use in say rain or snow! :p
So far in 1600+ miles so far I have yet to turn it off till I learn the cars character :) Greg |

Not even sure if my switch works. I'm too old to feel like I've got something to prove.
|
In normal driving conditions, on. In spirited driving, it gets turned off on occasion but still stays on more often than not. It is not very invasive if you drive using smooth inputs from the throttle and steering but will obviously step in if you really try to toss the car around.
|
I only turn my off on spirited runs. It seems to kill the fun if I don't.
|
On 75%
Off 25% |
Only comes off at the track
|
If the road is dry, I turn it off usually. It's fun for a spirited drive to get a little loose back there, as long as you're not playing in traffic.
If there is any dampness, heavy rain, or light snow, I turn it on. I'm no sucker. Under most driving conditions, however, I don't need to rely on it one way or another. 95% of my driving is just normal happy driving, and the wheels don't slip. |

I run with it off for AutoX, but it pretty much stays on while I'm on the road.

Not again, a VDC Thread!

I keep mine on all the time..what could possibly be the advantages of having it off? And isnt it a safety feature?

The reason to take it off is purely foolish, purely selfish, it is about fun. With it on, if you go around a corner too quickly, the electronic nannies in the computer kill your throttle so that you go around the corner slowly but safely. With it off, if you go around a corner too quickly, you engage in oversteer, can correct the skid, and powerslide through the turn, fast and fun. Now, you may wonder why anyone would want to do that, but it's obviously desirable for a large enough group that major car manufacturers allow the driver the control to turn it off if they like. |

No reason to be driving in a way that VDC is really getting in the way on the street though. |
This thread

In wet conditions, though, I keep it on due to low traction situations, which is why it's really there to begin with. |
Street=on
Track=off |

Can't stand mine, never leave it on. I can't even go up my driveway without it kicking on due to the steep hills and sharp slow turns up the ramp.
|
I feel the car behave the same on or off,no diffrence.
|
I would leave it on. I have a similar system on my 'vette (yaw control) and don't touch it. It spins does just fine with it on for 99.9% of driving.

My VDC is ALWAYS on. I remember going to the carwash. After coming out from it I came to a stop sign. I made a right turn with normal driving conditions, nothing crazy and the car felt like it spun out!! I think this is because the wheels was still very wet from the wash. If I didnt have VDC on it would have been pretty damn bad. Theres just too much power on the wheels that its hard to control without VDC on. |
I can't vote because I'm one of the ones that uses it 50% of the time.
|
off 90% of the time (when the conditions are good)
|
I have 3000 miles on mine and have never turned it off.
And really don't see a reason to. |
I get in hit start button and then VDC off. It's a habit now. Also having a great LSD helps with my traction.
|
yea, im with spohn. I push start, and hit vdc off.
the only time ill leave it on is if its raining. I prefer to not have the cpu drive for me... |
Always off if I can remember.
I did not have a nanny growing up, so I just don't feel I need one at this age. |
I voted that I leave it on. However there are times when I turn it off. For a while I tried my best to drive in a manner that would not cause the traction control light to flash. After a while I turned off VDC and was able to control the car just how I wanted. I had grip when I wanted and could break the rear loose when I wanted. That said, I only do it if I'm really paying attention. Its too easy to give it a bit too much gas when you're half asleep or something. Oh, and leave it on for a while after getting a car wash. The tires get slick, lol.

Off. Force of habit at this point.
For what it's worth, I'm 34yrs old, and have over 26k miles on my OEM Bridgestones, with plenty of tread to go. So it's not like I'm fishtailing around everywhere. I just prefer to drive the car that I paid for. If I wanted more input about my driving, I'd bring my girlfriend along with me. |
