Help me decide what to do
Hey all! I need some advice. Im planning on slowly upgrading my car. I already have stillen gen 3 intakes, and i was planning on getting berk HFC's, F.I CBE, and headers of some sort. After all that i was going to get tuned.
Now that being said, what order should i do everything in? What should i get next? And will i be fine with out a tune if i space everything out a month or 2 in between installs? I was talking to my friend (A mustang fanboy...) and he said doing all those upgrades was bad because something to do with the flow of the exhaust being too easy. He said something about losing compression and torque... Is there any truth to this? If there is do the gains out weigh the loss of low end torque? Thanks! Any advice/input is greatly welcomed

tune will be last so i guess your order is fine for now.
your mustang fan is saying that cause your car might get faster than his and wants you to leave it stock so he can smoke and roast you repeatedly. |

So i did some searching around and it seems like people online say start back and work your way toward the engine. Is that a good plan? Also any estimates on what i would be making for WHP with F.I CBE Berk HFC Stillen headers and Stillen CIA? Thanks!

Your mustang buddy has lost some brain cells somewhere. But if your going to wait and install them in increments just save up all the parts and do it all at once then get a tune also. With all those NA mods you will need a tune.

My is that when dealing with breathing mods, it's best to start from the back end and work your way forward. Because of the fact thats great that you got a better intake, a better manifold, and all kinds of breather boosters. But as soon as the air exits the engine, it gets backed up in the exhaust. Which is not good. So my recommendation of order would be:
1. CBE 2. HFC/TP/LTH 3. Intake/Manifold 4. Tune A tune is recommended for any mod you do, or everytime you change something. Is it absolutely necessary, no. But it will help. The other alternative is get everything done at once, then tune so you have just 1 visit to the installer then tuner.

That reminds me, i have my first oil change tomorrow at the dealer. Are they going to give me **** about my intakes and try to say they wont cover anything on my warranty from that point on? I know they have to prove its the cause of the issue and all... I know they told me i have to get all my oil changes and stuff there for them to honor the default power train warranty, i wonder if that means after market installs too...

Its all in how you justify it. If my clutch or transmission goes and they dont honor the warranty because of something iv'e dont to the car, then i just throw a racing one on there. You cant look at it like you could do something to break your car, look at it like if something does break its just an opportunity to make it faster/better/more unique then it was before

Sounds like great choices. I would go with a LSD after all the intake/exhaust mods. And I'd do that before any headers. The HP gains of exhaust mods apparently come mainly from the first change, with smaller incremental gains after that with each one. An LSD will get that power to the pavement on your touring Z (and will make me jealous!).

Defiantly a LSD if you can. Love mine, especially on deceleration. Can't wait to put it to serious use. Coming soon enough.
