Front Plate W/O drilling holes?

Bit off topic but, does the stillen plate block airflow? I searched but never really found a definitive answer.

I tried driving around Fontana at 100 degree weather with and without. Not a single "tick" was increased on temperature. Oil temp....I can't tell.

Really? When I did the same kind of test I was about 5-10 degrees higher with the plate on and it seemed to take longer for the temperature to drop. But nothing to worry about for normal street driving.
