Engine Start High RPM o.o?
When I start my engine in my 7AT usually after it has been off for a couple hours the RPM is idling at around 1.5k-2k and when I put it in Rear or D it goes back down to around 0.5-1k. Is there something wrong with it or is it just me? I realized the increased sound after getting my F.I HFC and CBE installed. It might have been the same before but since the sound increased I paid more attention to the Tachometer. O.o I can get some pics the next time I'm in the car if that's more help. I'm just worried that the possible increase in RPM will damage my transmission.

It is perfectly normal for the car to fast idle at 1500 rpm on a cold start, after 1 or 2 minutes this will quickly start dropping towards 1000 rpm and when the car is fully warmed up it idles at around 700 rpm unless you have the A/C on. You're probably just noticing it more now because of the HFC/exhaust swap.

I drive 6MT and it happens on cold mornings usually for me. It has been going on for a while and I haven't seen difference in performance or anything, except being louder in the mornings. I have Ark exhaust and Stillen intakes. I'm about to get the Berk HFCs and I'll see if it makes any more difference.

yup, very normal. Happens on my G37 5AT as well. As soon as I pop it into gear it goes back down, or if you wait a minute or so.

ohh ok :D thanks for clarifying.

I've noticed that for the first few minutes the car is crazy responsive too. I understand it's the cold in the engine that's doing this. :eekdance: |
yah, i too kinda wonder how loud it is for my neighbors when i start mine with the fujimura muffler each weekend morning. :D it's nowhere near as loud as my old wrx with blitz catback (no silencer used).
