its fine. the 370z is known for this issue of overheating oil temp. but becareful because once it hits 280 it will go into limp mode. if you're really worried you should order an oil cooler to just help the temperature a bit.

Sounds high to me for ordinary driving. I'd report it to the dealer to make sure you get no arguments later if warranty work is required.

yeah, i've gotten 220 before on normal driving, but i'm changing the oil soon and synthetic supposedly does help a little.

Set your expectations low for improvement based on synthetic only. Do you want to fix it? The ONLY way is with an oil cooler.

yeah a my dealer i think would hardly care I am never getting my car serviced where I bought it I have never had the temp above 240f but i am a little disappointed that a road car would need a after market oil cooler to work . By the by which oil coolers are the best?

I agree also.

It wouldn't hurt to pull the dipstick and see that the oil is up to the mark.

Bye the way, are you following the break in procedure??? Not going over 3,500 RPM's, varying the speed as per the owners manual and etc?

i agree with Old Guy seems a little high. Report it to dealer just in case..
Just follow break in procedures you should be ok....

Oh and if you ask about break in procedures here be prepared..

And also i would check the oil three or four times a week for the first 2000 to 4000 miles

how long was your car sitting on the dealer lot before you purchased it? if it was sitting for 6 months + you should change your oil and you will notice slightly lower oil temps. Also if you switch to a better oil (nissan ester or redline) it should be slightly lower. Now if you were doing spirited driving and not just cruising at 70/80 then yeah 240 might be expected.

Mine did the same thing, it would go to 240° without hard driving. Synthetic oil is going to do next to nothing about the temp issues.

You are one of the unlucky ones like myself who got a car that runs hot.

There are a few people on here who will say that it is impossible that your car is running hot just because theirs is not running hot, so you must be street racing or driving too fast... Each cast motor is going to have variances some may have had their cooling channels cleaned out better than others. Its a man made mass produced product and there will be differences from engine block to engine block.

This is my Z there are many like it but this one is mine.

Time for an oilcooler... Buy a quality kit from GTM or Z1 and you will be happy and not worry about oil temps again...

Congratulations on you new purchase and welcome to the forum. I only see 240 when I push the car a little. I think if I were pushing 240 all the time I would be installing an oil cooler. As mentioned above, definatly keep an eye on your oil level. There are many other oil temp and consumption threads if you want to do a little extra reading.
