I hit an already dead raccoon. Couldn't avoid it. It splattered all over my rear diff. When I got home it was like bacon. Yum.

I hit a raccoon in my Miata.
My car has less than 3" of clearance, so I could actually feel the animal under the floorboards as I ran over it. One of my fog lights was destroyed and the plastic supports for the grille were all cracked and broken, but the doors didn't have a scratch on them.

I used to hit numerous bats in my 1967 Datsun roadster when I lived back in Virginia in 1979 - 1981. A couple of time I found them wedged in the grill and once one got caught in the slipstream over the windshield and hit me on top of my head, taking my hat off. Bats give me the creeps.
The worst was when a buddy of mine and I were driving up 101 toward Humboldt County in 1978 in his brand new Spitfire 1500 that Daddy bought for him. (We had our own reasons for that particular road trip). Somewhere north of Garberville we were on a 2 lane part of the road (very windy throught the ancient redwood forests) and it was about 2 AM. Suddenly, the car felt like it was launching into the air and we heard this huge thud/crunch noise. So he pulled over immediately and we got out to find the entire passenger side covered in guts/blood, etc. Inside the wheel wells was more of the same gore. We then backtracked to find out if we had killed somebody and found a deer carcass with fresh tire tracks on it. Someone must of hit it before and Brad (my buddy) was not paying close enough attention, I suppose, and we ran over it again. Amazingly, the Spitfire was unscathed, something I would have thought impossible. These ae my only "hitting animals in sprts cars" stories. Thank you for reading.

I hit a deer going to Texas tech once in my 300zx. I was going about 50 coming out of a small town when a deer jumped over the east bound car and landed in front of me. Hit the brakes but still was going 40+. Since the car was lowered and already a giant wedge, the only damage was a dented hood. The deer flew about 30-40 feet over the car. Stupid thing got up and walked away.

A moronic deer ran into the side of my 350Z once. Damn thing was standing still, looking at me from the side of the road, and then took off RIGHT at me. I tried to accelerate and steer out of the way (going around a curve at the time) and it kept turning to come at me. Ran right into the side of me, I was face-to-face with it out my side window.
Surprisingly very little damage. Deer spit on my A-pillar and a leg dent on my rear fender which I got PDR'ed out. I took up deer hunting shortly thereafter The car was Lemans Sunset Idiot might have been trying to mate with it or thought I was on it's turf. |
