Correct, the estimator from the insurance and/or bodyshop will determine the amount of damage and if it is total loss.
The insurances company has a formula that is the amount of the damage against the current value of the car... that will determine if is total loss or not. However I would not want my car fix after that type of damage. Well it is a sport car and the insurance will be higher depending of many factor...the % of accident will definetely be one of those factors.

About 45ish. However, the road was really slick (It's been raining HARD the last 7-10 days here in Florida. It was really a shock that the car lost control, I wasn't driving crazy by any means. I really am
hoping they will total it. I read online that I may be able to buy the car back from Geico at a small price. I'm thinking that may be the thing to do as I could part out wheels, seats, etc. Adjuster is looking at it Wednesday post-teardown so we'll see. |

So glad to hear that you are ok...but sad to say your Z def looks totaled. I agree with what the other posters re: not wanting the car back if it is not totaled.
Some 12 yrs ago my Mazda MX3 had a large tree dropped then dragged across the length of it completely crushing the cabin. I figured it for totaled, but Progressive said "Let's see what we can do about getting you back in your car"! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The dude was all like "oh yeah, you won't believe what they can do with these cars today". I told him I didn't want it back...but it did not matter.

Agree that it's at least $18k if not higher. Really depends on what she looks like under the hood (engine damage, suspension, and frame). Your car is probably valued around $29-33k and you need 70-80% in damage to have it totalled. You need ~$25k in damage for a totalled decision.

Way more than $9k. I recently crashed my z. The total repair cost for mine was about $15k.
It wasn't as much damage as yours.
