Things not to do to your Z
Everyone seems to have their own definition of what a riced out car is. If you ask any american gear head he will probably tell you its anyone who works on a japanese car. If you ask other people its a car with a bad body kit or a giant whale wing on their car. Others say its "show and no go".
I think it happens when someone doesnt have a theme with their car or an idea on what they want to do. Keeping the car simple and clean is personally the best way to go. As long as there isnt gull wing doors, a 35 foot wing on the car, hydrolics, and spinners it should be fine. Opinions? And some suggestions on what people should NOT do to their Z?

Personally, I'm hoping to keep the exterior of my car as stock as possible. My car will be a "sleeper", as much as any 370 can be But that said, there's a lot of room for subjective interpretation on all of this, and I'm not gonna go trying to enforce my opinions on someone else. Then again, if you're like these guys, I'm gonna laugh my *** off at you: Last edited by wstar; 04-25-2009 at 10:21 AM. |

Call me crazy, but I say if you bought it do whatever you want to it. It's YOURS! The day someone pays for my car and insurance I will let them dictate what I should or should not do to it.

"Rice", is a mentality. You can rice out ANY car, no matter what brand or where its built. Period. My no-no's on this car? -Ridiculous body kits that cost $5000+ (or worse yet, cheap ones that look horrid...). -Park bench wings -SLAMMING THE CAR TO THE GROUND! This car needs, probably at MOST, a .5" drop. After that, I feel you're compromising the dynamics and ground clearance of the vehicle and you've now just become a show-only car. -The "MUST HAVE CARBON FIBER EVERYTHING!" mentality. No, you don't, and no, it doesn't save a lot of weight lol. -Excessively tinting the headlights. Not a fan, think its unsafe and somewhat tacky.

Two tone paint job. Tinting the brake lights, I think that is unsafe and just asking to be re-ended!

Have you guys seen my Spec-V emblem yet? I swear my car feels so much faster, and I can hang with the GT-R thanks to the Spec-V emblem.
Seriously, before I got my car I had plans to do some mods like change out the spoiler and stuff. The OEM spoiler, while hard to clean underneath, is growing on me so I'm keeping it. I may end up with something along the lines of Central20 sides and Mine's CF front lip (waiting for alternatives). I just hate FRP stuff tacked on, so I may end up keeping the stock side skirts and simply add on a simple CF lip to keep a "flat" profile underneath. TS produced a really nice front diffuser with CF underbody panel. The rigidity would be nice, and it also provides an access panel for the oil filter. Lighting wise, my modded headlights will be as "ricey" as it gets. I was thinking about getting the JDM clear tail lights, but I like my stock ones the way they are. Overall, I reduced my wishlist and will end up saving a few grand. The Z looks good enough as it is, and (coming from a 350Z) it is such a pleasure to drive. What you see in my avatar is my 350Z with just a spoiler and side skirts, and people loved the cleanliness of my car.

I like engine cover with vents. Wish I could find one.
I like the sleeper idea....do things hidden and under the hood. That's what makes an interesting car, not a car that has body kit pieces falling off after a couple years....ridiculus !! Or better yet how about the guy who slams the car to the ground and then slowly shows visible signs of obvious bumps into every raised piece of concrete such as speed bump, curb, parking block.
