I get about 20.5 mpg. Mix of city and highway. Couldn't say how many miles I get to the tank cause I only gas up 1/2 a tank. That extra 9.5 gallons is a lot of weight. Ever notice how much more fun the car is with about 2 dots left lol

I live in a small town so yes there are little trips here and there where it's 25 mph speed limits.. you know the kind of place... old redneck small town with not much in it ... except loud *** trucks that I may start shooting with a BB gun... there is some highway as well. I would say overall it's probably 80/20.. but the 80 isn't really highway, it's 40 and 50 mph backroads. On a 15 or so stretch of high way the gauge showed a little over 30 mpg... of course that's only 15 miles, but the gauge does seem to be quite accurate which I like... my MS3 was about 2-3 mpg off... it was telling me I was averaging 30.4 over 4 tanks... when I would fill up I would always be 27 or so.

how many miles do you have on your car? I just wonder after a few thousand miles after the engine frees up a little more if i'll do better. I think I will.

Then again, I would imagine once I add the K&N's and post maf tubes along with the amsoil i'll get better mileage as well.. I always have in my other cars after the first oil change.

i dunno how you guys are getting such great mileage, unless you're driving long distances on the highway. i'm consistently averaging ~16mpg

I get it because I don't drive the car hard. If you can keep your foot out of it, use cruise as much as you can, slow down a long way before lights and try to catch them green. I do rolling stops all the time too lol. Don't leave the car running when you go in somewhere if someone is in the car... let them bake

Anyone else find yourself trying to explain to people how many "dots" of fuel you have left? And anyone who doesn't know, we have 16 dots for full.

Default Respectable mpg in my opinion

I just returned from a trip from Des Moines to Columbus OH and back, a total of 1,331 miles and averaged 27.8 mpg with an average speed of 68 mph for the entire trip. Best mileage was 30.5 mpg and worst segment was 25.3 mpg (very strong head wind.) I typically drive about 5 mph over the limit and speed limits are 65 mph in IL and OH and 70 mph in IA and IN. This average includes some city driving in Columbus and several stretchs of road construction, especially in Indy. I've got about 5K miles on the car.

Fuel gauges in cars are a linear measuring system, but measuring something that is not linear. So no, they are never accurate.

The fuel gauge is just measuring the height of the fuel in the tank. The top of the tank is much wider and contains more fuel, so it goes down slower. The bottom of the tank is much smaller, so it drains quicker.

Not in my experience. My mpg calculator on my car is slightly pessimistic. It said I got something like 25.6mpg on the highway (averaged both ways for accuracy) when manual calculation revealed 26.0X. That said, I find it hard to believe that 370Z's are not getting 30+ on the highway unless it is at altitude.

I think some of you must be driving up-hill and not noticing it. It's easy to do. I drove across a bridge one time and the read-out showed nearly 30mpg. Then I took it the other way and it sat on 22-23 mpg. Apparently, this 2 mile long bridge was NOT flat/level. It sure looked it, though! Easy to do. Average your mileage going both ways on the same stretch of highway for accurate measurement.

Yeah, whether they round up or down, I've found the trip computers to be wrong on mileage over time.

Doesn't bother me, really.

That was over @125 miles. I'm with you. .4mpg over 100+ miles? Who cares? You put gas in it when you touch 1/4 tank and that's that. People should stop being such nigglers.

after about 3000 miles that is
22-24 for over 70? no way! I drive 75-80 about 95% of the way into work and I typically average 26-27 MPG on the way there. I never really get under 25 MPG even on the way back in the mornings when I deal with a bit more traffic (and thus average lower speed).
