Default Second tank of gas 25.62 MPG

I filled up a few days ago and meant to take some pics... obviously because the car is premium, the cost is still higher, but I thought that was good for only the second tank considering I had run the A/C some, got on the car a little, but mostly cruised. Keep in mind the speed limit where I live is still 55 on the highway and I don't drive much over that.

I don't know how many miles the first tank got because the dealership filled it up and I don't know how much was put into the car or anything... it was driven a little ways before it got to me and I also don't know if the mileage was reset upon filling.

Anyway... 450 miles on the tank exactly and the fill up was 17.5 gallons... +/- a little. Not bad for a car with only a little under 1000 miles and not broken in yet.

I shake my head at the gas gauge too. It's those last dots that go fastest. Or is it the first couple last longer?

The dots lie, mine will have 2 dots remaining and the warning light comes on... I fill up and see I only put in 15 gallons.

Yep. So Cal here and we drive 80MPH....get constant 20.5MPG. I should drive like a grandma @ 65MPH, but if I drive that speeds on the 5 or 22 freeway, someone will end up killing me.

Agreed, first few dots last very long, after that anything near half tanks,it drop very fast,i think our tanks should be big on top, small at the bottom.

yah this is the same way on most cars though, even with needles. it take a while for the needle to move while full but once it passes the 1/2 mark it dips pretty quick....

Gas gauges and trip computers are skewed towards fooling the driver into thinking that fuel economy is better than it really is. That is why the top portion of the meter takes longer to drop...it's been programmed that way.

I actually try to check the dots and I seem to get 20-25 miles per dot.. with the occasional being less.

I guess they do that so people don't run out, but at 450 miles and filling up 17.5, i'd be close to 500 miles on tank before being completely dry... not to bad for a sports car lol

Just got back from a trip to North Carolina and I got 27.4 on one tank running 70-75 with AC most of the trip. Might attribute some of that to going downhill in the mountains though.

Another point to consider, cars sold in America also have a "cushion" of sorts built into gas gauges. If your car is saying you're bone dry, you probably have another 1/2 gallon or so, and even the projected distance until empty is usually low by a little bit. This is so people who try to run it to the edge still don't run out of gas unless they are completely inept

25mpg is damn good if it's mostly city driving.
