Default Should I?

I am ready to buy my 1st car and the Z is one of two that I am looking at. I have been waiting for this time for sooo long. I have test drove it and read all about it for months (years now) but now the time has come. I just wanted to get a few opinions on some things that I am thinking about in regards to the Z. Again Im 22 and its my first time buying a car. Thanks for the help

-Though the 370z never got as played out as the 350 (at least around here) would you guys let the fact that a new Z is coming out in a little bit deter you from buying the 370z? (I wont have the option to trade it in for a new one)

-Which year of 370 would you suggest I look at? (did the last two years work some kinks out or are they each pretty much similar)

- If you had a few cars on your buying list and really like say two of them, do you ever wonder about what it would be like with the other car now?

-Sum up your Z experience in one word

Thanks alot, I dont mean to repeat any questions that have already been asked but just wanted to see what you guys think.

This sounds like HW...

1. There is no plan for a new Z at the moment, so to answear this question No.

2. The new 5.0 stang and the new STI Sedan, two cars that I would like to know what it would be like to own.

3. There all basically the same with small differences like no heated mirrors for 09 crap like that.

4. Orgasmic

There are only two things that would have kept me from buying the Z:

1 - need for a backseat or cargo room. If this is your only car it's going to be hard to actually use. Very limited luggage space, trunk space etc. If you have a dog you'll be carrying it in the passenger seat so it will be hard to keep clean too. I have a 4-door daily driver so this wasn't an issue for me.

2 - If I wanted power and modability over style. For me it was between this car and the BMW 335 coupe. I own one, and have a client with a 335 that I've done simple bolt-ons to. You'll find lots of threads on here debating the two cars, but there is no denying that dollar for dollar you get better performance gains on a car that comes with a turbo stock. And the 335 is rediculously fast off the line with so much torque available so low in the power band.

But here in Dallas I see 3 series coupes literally every single day. I see another 370 maybe once every two weeks. And in my opinion the exterior styling of the Z is much better looking than the 3 coupe. I get stopped and asked about my Z almost every time I take it out. There's no way that would happen with the 3 series even after a body kit and rims.

The only times I've questioned the decision is when driving the 335 right after modding it. The Z will get there, but it will take a lot more $$ then I can spend right now.

My Z is an 09 and it's had no problems at all. Only has about 13K miles but so far so good. I would look for a low mileage one and not worry about the year.

The 370Z is pure sex! It is hot, loud, and rough!

I would also recommend purchasing a cheap clunker for the winter months.

Havent driven the STI but I have driven the 5.0. It is an impressive ride. The engine is great and really pulls and the exhaust note is pretty sick stock. Strong car, really gets up and goes. You can go through lots of tires and possible tickets. The only thing that pushed me away is that it is a mustang. This coming from a kid that has idolized the 2004 cobra since I paid attention to cars. In 2 years they will be all over the road and the price will have drastically dropped. I also am not keen on the styling 100%. Some look better to me than others, but its not an immediate love kind of thing. All in all it is a really nice car, so l ong as you are ok passing a few like yours everyday.

if your talking Mustang vs Z..... the two cars from what i read in the past, are pretty much the same....(though not sure on the 5.0) the acceleration is pretty much the same, though i believe the Z takes one foot longer to stop? again... this is Muscle Car vs Sports car....... when you start talking about getting into the twists and turns of the track and road.... thats really where the Z starts to pull away, Hugs and rides the turns very VERY nicely, unlike the Mustang whom takes a wider berth to turn.... (its a muscle car... stright line speed) .... teh Z really gets away from the pack when you get into the turns..

Its actually between the Z and Challenger R/T for me. I know they are two different cars that accomplish different things. They are two that I have liked from the get go and now the hard part is trying to decide between the two.

at work there is a 3 story parking garage. I count seven mustangs in there...too common of a car for me. beefy and powerful yes -- "wtf is that"? head turns-rare

and challengers are pretty sweet..they just seem like a big boat on wheels. I like the heritage and the new design though.

Exclusivity. I very rarely see another 370Z around here. I can count on 2 hands how many others I've seen since I bought mine in Nov '09

Chicks love the car

You *must* enjoy being stared at. Don't buy a 370Z if that would annoy you

Since the sales volume has remained small due to the economy, value of used Z's is holding up nicely.

Cars with actual manual trans with - gasp - stick shifts will vanish very soon. You will be an exclusive member of the Man's Man Club

As someone else stated, get a beater car for the winter. Especially in the Dakotas.

Thanks alot, I dont mean to repeat any questions that have already been asked but just wanted to see what you guys think.
1. No I wouldn't let it deter me. I was in the same boat as you - I was waiting for years to buy a Z and finally made the decision to do it. Every financial decision was based around saving up more money to down payment the Z. I thought "what if the new model next year comes in orange??" but I bought one anyway. The next year's model came in another grey color. winning! Now if I bought a 2008 350Z and found out the 370 was coming out, I would have been sadface. I don't think that's the case for another couple years.

2. Which year you buy might depend on color selection, if you want an OEM backup camera, etc. I have a 2010 that has defrosting mirrors and a cabin microfilter over the 2009. Also I guess they fixed some hatch problems. I don't see any huge 2010 problems and I assume the 2011 is just as solid.

3. I wonder what it would be like to own the other cars and then remember how passionate I am about this car and how unique it is.

4. Exclusivity.
