Default New to forum, advice needed

Hey guys,
I new to this forum, I dont own a 370 Z yet, I do own a 2010 Camaro SS, 6.3L 425HP, 426 ft. tq, 6 speed. Before I bought my Camaro I did want a 370 Z but the reviews that I read about the car were that it has a lot of engine noise and that it rough @ high rpm and a lot of road noise. I still like the car, can any one confirm this info, also I'm kind of tired of the manual shift. Is the automatic car still fun to drive. Need all the help I can get in order to make a choice either to keep my car get a 370Z or a C6 Corvette.

You're going to get very strong opinions from opposing camps on the issues of road noise or which transmission to get.

The guys who write those articles get their info from test drivers who drive a lot of cars fir a few hours. What may be noticeable in a short test may not be noticeable in everyday driving.

I noticed the extra road noise at first but now I don't.

Ah the noise thing... I read those reviews too. Noise, noise, noise they said... After a test drive, I'm like where the F is the noise?

6 months later and my Z still seems quiet for a sports car to me.

depends on your personal preference, people are different in what they like and dont like and what they can toloerate and what they cant, some may not like the road noise exc as compared to someone (like me) whom doesnt mind the noise at all, makes me feel like its a real road car for some reason.

we can state our cases for the Manuel vs automatic and what not and let the debate drag on for days and days, weeks and weeks...BUT what really matters is YOUR decsion..YOUR oppinion... for me.... iwanted the Z after doing countless hours of research, yes i heard about the road noise exc...i was even on the verge of purchasing a 2011 5.0 GT mustang.... but something inside, my gut feeling told me "Go with the Z" .....so despite the noise and whatever other issues..... i went for it, bought my Z. and you know what? I.Could. Not.be.Happier.

In regards to Automatic vs manuel.... again, results may vary from person to person......i find Automatic is the way to go, If you REALLY want to go manuel and you got the auto.... just flip the shifter into Manuel mode and start upshifting with either the paddle shifters ORRR shift the knob up a tad just like you would a regular manuel... not to mention the Automatic as a 7th gear...(which regular manuel's dont have)... (when in manuel mode).

The road noise really is not as bad as these mags make it out to be. The Camaro is going to be a tad faster in a straight line then the Z stock for stock. But the Z is much more nimble. I considered buying the Camaro instead of the Z but after learning of its weight and giganticness and looking at one at a dealer near me and noticing condensation in the reverse lights and lopsided badges I went with the Z. If I had to do it all over again there would be three cars that would be hard for me to pick from. The new 5.0 Stang (please dont tell Steve I said that) the new STI Sedan, and of course the Z.

The Camaro SS is a nice car,the car and steering feels heavy ,the HP well its nice to be king of the hill. I love the looks of the Z.

i think the new camaro's look great. the V8 one imho is too much power for street so unless you're tracking the car you'd probably never need all that power. ive not driven the current gen one so cant really speak for them.

the 370z's borderline as far as keeping it legal while still having fun reving the engine. i think it's a well though out car for street use. it's a comfy car in stock form and can handle bigger bumps with no issue. if you get the touring you get a classier interior that might suite your needs. i personally went with base with sports package cause i wanted cloth seats on my Z.

as mentioned above, definitely take a test drive. i thought the car drove like a bimmer when i first took one out.

Mustang, Camaro or Z. You can't really go wrong with either one. The feels more like a "true" sports car rather than muscle obviously. The "noise" is only truly noticeable if you've been driving a Camry for 10 years. You honestly won't give a crap if your tearing up a twisty road. I DD my Z and I see how road noise could bother some people. Nothing that can't be fixed with a nice exhaust. As far as auto vs manual, it's subjective.... But I can tell you about 3 people at a local meet who wished they had gotten the manual. The auto trans on the Z is actually pretty good. The fastest consistent 1/4 mile runs have been with an auto I believe.

I currently own both a Nismo 370z and Camaro SS 6-speed. I won't get into detail about the two cars but in regards to engine harshness and interior cabin noise the Camaro wins hands down. Thats not to say the Z is inferior, it's just a different car. The Z isn't really harsh until you start pushing past 5k rpm. The interior cabin noise is much higher in the Z but thats to be expected considering it has less sound deadening material compared to the camaro. The Camaro also has a smoother suspesnion where as the Z's suspension is more harsh. This doesn't help with road noise but it does help with cornering performance. Lastly the tires on the Camaro aren't as sport oriented as the Z's, which again attributes to higher road noise. I can get into further detail between the two if you would like on both their pros and cons. I'll end with this though, the Z is the car I chose to buy where as the Camaro is the car my fiance chose to buy. Then again since you mentioned the Vette if would just get one of those. Used to own a 2006 Vette a few years ago, I'm actually considering trading my Nismo for a Grand Sport.

If you can use the power of the Z on the street then the same can be said for the Camaro. On the street these cars are near identicle so to say the Camaro has too much power is false. While it does rock over 400hp and torque it's still heavy and there fore takes longer to move than it's big brother the Vette. One could argue the Vette has too much power for the street but then again you are talking about a 3200lb car with over 400hp and torque, not a 3900lb tank.

Guys this is great info, The Camaro looks great and so does the Z. I think I should of gotten the Z. I'm a small guy 5'6" 160lbs so I think the Z would do fine. Also I want to put it in gear and forget about it.
