Removing the 370Z logo

Yes Im about to do it. I look at the back of the car and I think it takes away from the beauty of the lines.

Is this Sacrilege to the Z community:worship: or do others feel the same way

ZeeingAround 06-26-2011 05:56 PM

If it were not so damn expensive to remove, repair and repaint, mine would be gone. The logos are going to be black on my car eventually along with those glaring door handles.

Evil Sports 06-26-2011 06:25 PM

the "370z" emblem in the upper left of your rear bumper cover just peels off, I used some dental floss and "goo gone" and it came out great on my magnetic black z. The emblem in the center, the nissan "hamburger" is indented into the bumper and thus would require body work and paint to make it look proper.

Three7D 06-26-2011 06:37 PM

To each his own if you feel it "takes away from the lines" then do it, i like the way cars look without?! I have the black pearl emblems that I need to install as soon as I find away the remove them safely from the indentation... :tiphat:

Evil Sports 06-26-2011 06:47 PM

Yes I mean the letters 370z on the left side of the tail. The round Nissan logo I can live with

Footloose301 06-26-2011 08:29 PM

I would love to remove the 370 logo as well, but I just can't bring myself to do it on a 40th....

AlexRaymond19 06-26-2011 08:32 PM

I think it looks amazing with out it. I did it right after i got mine, and was very pleased with the results. Watch a few youtube videos on it, and make sure when you pull the letters off you do so by pulling straight up. I pulled one of mine off by one side and it left a mark in the paint. Also, use wd40 instead of goo-gone, it works better and is easier on the paint. I found that after taking my 370 off it left a section looking a little dull. I used meguiars ultimate compound on the area, and it fixe it right up.

Ya, I'm compelled to leave my "40th anniversary" badge on for sure...I would sooner shave the Nissan Hamburger

Do it! I like my butts nice and symmetrical.:rofl2:

RC 370z 06-26-2011 09:28 PM

is there a better looking badge than the hamburger? i would like to get a "Z" one instead, but i cant find where to get em?

Hambone1 06-26-2011 10:49 PM

I have seen gunmetal Z ones with a circle background, I'd have to look to find it again though. I know it was through one of the vendors

Sweet! Post a picture when you are done:tup:

Evil Sports 06-27-2011 07:55 AM

Almost done, http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4773457_n.jpg

AlexRaymond19 06-27-2011 08:02 AM

Very nice! The adhesive is a pain to get off isn't it? I went from :happydance: to:ughdance: when it wasn't coming off

DIGItonium 06-27-2011 08:05 AM

I wish I did mine a long time ago because there's a slight color difference where the logo used to be.

That means there is still some residue on there, and if its due to sun fade then is should blend in soon enough. Try Meguiars ultimate compound on the area... It works like a charm, when i applied it the 370z stood out very bold after the compound was on there. With a little rubbing it went right away

Evil Sports 06-27-2011 08:24 AM

Gonna use some WD40 on it, then 3m scratch remover. Needed to get in my office for a few minutes.

puckshaw 06-27-2011 08:33 AM

I took mine off recently since I went with the black pearl hamburgers and it wouldn't have matched. Unfortunately, my white bumper has changed color a bit so you can see where the 370z logo was  Now I have to buy the black pearl 370z logo.

RandyD 06-27-2011 09:07 AM

i keep snaggin mine when washing and waxing... maybe i'll remove it - good ideas

AlexRaymond19 06-27-2011 04:03 PM

So how did it come out?

FromG2Z 06-27-2011 04:31 PM

as stated, to each their own... as far as I'm concerned, I don't like to do any debadging of any sort. It "cheapens" the car IMO. That being said, I don't agree with ADDING and badging either. :) Just keeping the stock look is best (as far as badges).

ProfessorDave 06-27-2011 07:16 PM

I de-badged the 370Z, and replaced the hamburger with the Z store emblem. My plate frame says 370Z, so people still know it is a superior Z:

AlexRaymond19 06-27-2011 08:23 PM

I agree with keeping the hamburger on the back, so people can know what just blew them away. But i think the front looks best bare. Just my personal preference

Not a bit of fade but my car was only a couple months old

Flybyenature 08-13-2014 05:05 PM

I tried today but everything didn't come off even with goo gone. I even scratched the car a bit, Can someone help me!

Will a fairlady badge cover this?

I feel your pain bra ^^^ my bumper was sticking out in the FL sunlight badge came off easily however I too scratched the bumper ( paint very soft on plastic bumper when hot ), a little worse than yours if its any consolation. It was the damn "Z" letter, its very sharp and needs to be removed via fishing line and not via my method of lifting one side LOL. I took out half an inch of paint down to black just above the Z letter. Oh well..

If you have got rid of all the residue then use some Maguires ultimate compound that should take off the shadows, or alternativly use some ipa also.

AlexRaymond19 08-13-2014 05:34 PM

So looking at the picture, my z is black... not as noticeable as yours....

In a side not, if you decide to paint your side markers I have discovered that the "Z" is just stuck on with double sided tape. Piece of cake to take off. I've painted mine a few times now and it always chips because I can't paint the sides well enough. Now the that z is off it should work perfect

there are a couple threads on here that will help you.

I'd move your car into the sun and let it sit for an hour or so.

Use some goo be gone or rubbing alcohol and a SOFT cloth. You will just have to rub/polish it out. :wtf2:

I did min and it took more time to remove the goo.

You can do it :icon18:

I debadged mine last weekend.. and replaced the Nissan emblems with evo-r Z emblems...

Use goo-gone, and a hair-dryer AND dental floss to remove the pieces. On the 370 Z I was still trying to figure out how much muscle to use and put a tiny chip in the paint (which I ordered some more paint to touch it up).

It just takes patience... and all that sticky crap will come off with goo-gone and some heat, soapy water + soft cloth. Just takes a while.

gl!

That looks good Malm. Love the wheels too.

Remove as much of the residue using compounds, then polish, then seal and/or wax. Use goo gone but don't use too much. You'll need a good orbital polisher if you can borrow one or buy one for yourself plus pads. It is a good tool to have for your stable.

Oh ok. I used goo gone too but it still managed to come out like that :(
Will I just be good if I cover it with another badge? A fairlady or something without all the hassle?

Nope, you'll have to do some paint correction first. I would not cover it up with a badge unless it is clean, otherwise it would look like you are covering it up and be very obvious.

Like he stated, compound then polish should take care of it.

I had a sweet old lady back into my 2010 Nismo on the first week of ownership.. The nice
lady was very honest. She left her name, address, and even her Insurance
agents phone number. The insurance company paid for a brand new OEM
rear bumper and after paint never installed the 370Z emblem or the Nismo
logo... Sorta the old school look and happy with the results ... I see this sweet old lady every
once in awhile at are local Safeway market and smile and wave to her as well.
That was four years ago and I noticed that her station wagon has a few more new additional paint colors on it as well....................
