370Z, nismo or 335

I've been looking at the new bmw 335 and that car really looks interesting. I haven't test driven it yet but me and my buddy (who is also looking into getting one probably within couple of months or so) and i'm going to tag along with him to take a look at the car myself. I noticed in this forum there's a lot of you guys that have had some nice cars and I would like your opinion. I don't mind having 4 seats or 2 seats or more trunk space, that doesn't bother me. But i'm interested in the performance of the car.

nismo 370z

no question man... but then again... if all you care about is performance in a straight line... get the BMW... but if you throw turns in the mix... i would even take a regualar base 370 over the BMW. Only upside of the 335 is with 4k you can be at roughly 350-400whp... with the Z its gonna take you a LOT more than that... but once you go FI w/ the Z... not too many cars can really keep up in a track (and no-- the drag strip is NOT a track).

The 335i is a very good car. However, it has the same oil temp issues as the Z. The resale on the 335i had been pretty good until recently. A nice low mileage 08 could be had for a really reasonable price.

meh... i would never buy a BMW... but thats just me... go get an evo if you wanna drag around lol

i love the e92, but the $50,000+ for the 335 is ridiculous! Speedwise, does not FEEL that much faster than a 370z, is350, and the g35. Not worth it IMO. The torque is there, but it feels so tame, like nothing special about it, at least not worth the extra 15-20,000 over a Z. e92 M3 on the other hand...

I'm in the same boat, I have a 2006 BMW 330i and I'm leaning heavily towards a 370Z, but I'm also considering a used 335i.

Based on my surfing on the Bimmer forums, most 335i have suffered from HPFP failure, even on some 2009 models. BMW has responded by extending the warranty on this specific failure to 10 years, but still. Who wants to pay $45K+ and they have a part crap out.

The price difference between a 335i and a 370Z, will be significant, especially since a fully loaded 370Z will probably run around $42K to $43M, max, while a fully decked out 335i with nav will easily cost $50K or more.

Have you considered a 135i? A fully decked out 135i with nav and leather will run about $43K and BMW is currently offering 0.9% financing.

In my opinion, a 370Z is a once in a lifetime car, not because of price, but because of the styling and impractical nature of the car. How many times in your life will you be able to justify buying a two seat sports car? Even the 135i and 335i offer rear seats.

I'd recommend the 370Z, but that's me. Check out Bimmerfest for more advice.

BTW, have you considered a Corvette? I know that name doesn't come up too often on this forum, or other forums for matter, but in terms of performance, I think a new Vette would probably best a 370Z and a 335i. Not sure about the handling though.

I looked a Vette, but that car made me feel older than I am. When I think of Vettes I think of 50-60 age bracket. Z's are probably closer to 25-35 with Bimmer's being mainly 35-40, or so.

That's just me though.

LOL. I'm probably waiting till when the 2010 models come out. II noticed i've been saying a lot of stuff on this forum. I didn't realize i posted so much. It's a good forum and professional so i'm a little addicted to it right now. Plus, if i decide to get the 370 (most likely) in the future i want to know what other 370z members are saying about this car. What type of problems, aftermarket products and what not.

I second that.

Depends on your purpose and priorities... budget, daily driver or track, number of seats, creature comforts, etc.?

NISMO 370Z is heavily overpriced for daily driving. If you like it for looks, get the body kit and exhaust upgrades. It should net you over 18whp anyhow.

335i is a very nice car, and you can't beat BMW drivability. It definitely had upgrade potential to overpower it's curb weight and outrun the 370Z. I wouldn't consider it much of a track car... you may want to consider a used M3.

Has Nissan disclosed a price for the 370Z Nismo? I read an article in AutoWeek that said that the Nismo would have an MSRP of $39M.

If you want a performance everyday use but a 2 seater, get a 370z.
if you want a luxury car, 4 seater, 335.

If you plan to own your 335 for more than 5 years, consider high maintenance budget if something happen.
