GA court let my buddy go who had an S14 240SX with an SR20 (illegally) with test pipes. He told the court he replaced the exhaust and went back to stock and showed 1 picture of a stock 240SX exhaust and they let him go. Also funny that he drove the car to court, loud as f*ck, and noone bothered him.

This is why I'm not messing with cats. It's one thing to get a fine for tints or lighting. Quite another to mess with smog regulations.

Most people will never be caught. But some people will.

I'd rather not run the risk.

Hell, I'm debating on ever upgrading my exhaust, because the stock one is so quiet, officers generally ignore me.

Who needs an exhaust upgrade when you can supercharge the car and leave the exhaust stock!

lol, my buddy Kirkster has the stock nismo exhaust and a supercharger. When he canes it, the supercharger's so loud and obvious. But when he's just driving it normally, you can't tell.

I'd like my car to sound mean and loud, but more than that, I'd like to keep it a sleeper.

From all that I have read, the Berks are 49 state compliant. Whats the issue here?

In some states, it is illegal to uninstall compliant cats.

Yeah but all you have to say is that your OEM's were defective or were broken in some sort of "accident". Such as running over something.

Whoa talking about jail time for HFC's?! Haha in Alberta you could pass a cop hitting nitrous boost, with straight pipes and still just get a speeding ticket. Maybe even just a warning. If smog laws in the US have really come to that, well maybe a prius or camry hybrid is in order! Of course in Canada you do have to do backflips, pay a small fortune and wait 6 months just to get a gun... I have a feeling that's not so in Texas

That may be true, but you would have to live in Canada and I can't make that trade-off.

Police/CHP/Sheriffs in CA can legally impound ANY car they find that has emissions modifications without a C.A.R.B. certification. This includes superchargers, turbos, HFC's, etc. If they want to be difficult about it -- they can if you run non-approved stuff that impacts emissions.

Is MD one of them? Not that it makes a difference to me, I will probably still get HFCs.
