And yes, I'm sure he's a very careful driver when his mother is in the car. That is said by way of observation, not prediction. I don't know your son. Maybe he'll be the one teenager that bucks the odds. The 370Z is indeed a very quick car, and it most definitely encourages "spirited" driving. ETA: Get the warranty. You can afford it, and it will buy you some piece of mind. \ . Last edited by MacCool; 06-26-2011 at 05:16 PM. |

getting lost in the age of the owner is the price. What trim is it? 26.4 seems like it is not a very good deal unless the car has some packages...

I was (am) a superb athlete and driver, excellent student, never drank/smoked/drugged, never in trouble, now I am a successful professional, regardless I did stuff I shouldn't have when I was that age, luckily I got away with it. And a kid will do these things regardless of the car they drive, however, this car will get attention your son doesn't need and invite testosterone driven challenges from every other 18yo with a hard on, as is the nature of the animal, and will likely end up in street racing. I have the kids challenge me all the time, and I have enough control of my gentleman to not take the bait.
Have a talk with your kid about street racing. And drugs. You post online, you get advice you didn't ask for. Good luck and I hope you both enjoy the car safely. |

RCK,
Been on lots of boards over the years. And every one responded the same way when a young man (never a young woman – guess they don’t drive?) gets a car they now covet. I guess everyone just remembers what they were like at that age. As for the warrantee, do not buy from an independent provider. Check the records and you will see most suck in purchases then fold under bankruptcy leaving the buyers holding the bag. I assume Nissan offers one. That’s the one I would get. Keep in mind, that these are loaded with markup. So shop it around. Typically, you’ll find it for half what it retails for. It’s all about mitigating risk. So weigh that as you see fit. While no one wants to replace a powertrain, there aren’t hidden big ticket items in our Z’s (compared to dual clutch tyrannys per say) but you gotta know what you are comfortable risking. I for one think it’s cool to have a couple generations of Z’s across the family generations. Just don’t let him call himself the new and improved model.! Enjoy. |

contradiction? In someone pulling out 20 feet in front of me and it being their fault?

An extended warranty is just something needed with any driver 16-30 in my opinion. I'm 23 and I've had a warranty on both of my cars and it has saved me numerous times. If any argument is to be made, this warranty will keep him out of many unexpected car problems that cause money (moreso with a 370Z), if you plan on him being in college then it will save so much time, effort, and money. College kids are broke, I was, it saved me. Also, if he's not doing college then just going out into the real world in the very beginning is super expensive. I just moved to Texas to start my very first real job after college and I've easily spent a few thousand dollars just on moving costs. He doesn't need any unexpected expenses, and certainly you won't want him asking for the money when the time comes around when a possible transmission goes out, or the air conditioning system fails. I'm just saying, it is a very smart investment.

I hit HER still her fault, im not on the argument of reflexes and vision. A 40 year old man would have done the same thing as me. All I am saying is just because he is 18 does not mean he is not responsible.

idk why every forum has to give people a hard time for getting a child a cool car. its a dream to have a "sick" car at a young age. whats the point of having a cool car when you 40+ whats the fun in that ? sure its nice. but a 370z is prime for college.
