Check your locking lug nuts

I installed a set of oem splash guards and decided to remove my back wheels to make the drilling easier only to fing my locking lug nuts were little more

Default Check your locking lug nuts

I installed a set of oem splash guards and decided to remove my back wheels to make the drilling easier only to fing my locking lug nuts were little more than hand tight. I checked the fronts and they were the same. I'm not sure if the dealer installed them or not but whoever did didn't bother to torque them down. If you got these as an option it might not be a bad idea to check them for tightness, especially if the dealer installed them.

It's good to retorque ALL your lug nuts periodically.

torqing is not the issue. they are the wrong lockers. there are many threads on this issue.. search for them. the lugs you have are for the 350 and are not long enough, so they are bottoming out on the stud and not actually holding anything. you're lucky if you havent broken a lug off or the nut inside the wheel so far.. a ton of people have had this happen.. including me.

go to nissan and have them order you the right locking lugs for free. i cant believe dealers are still installing the wrong lockers.

If you re-torque them they will snap in half and leave you screwed. That's what happened to me in the 1st week of ownership. Get them off and get the correct locks on there!

Did you see his wheel locks? Or are you making an assumption? I don't see any attached pictures here. You do make a good point though. OP, check your wheel locks. They must be shaped like the rest of your lug nuts...there should be a flat washer part and look like this:


If not, they are the wrong locks and are not designed to work with the 19" Rays sport wheel.

The extra $40 adds an extra 40 seconds per wheel for them. That's over 3 minutes of extra labor, 3 minutes of increased chances of getting caught. It's a decent deterrent.

For thieves, time is of the essence.

If nothing else, it'll deter the less experienced thieves.

When you park your car, would you leave the doors unlocked and argue that if they want to get into your car they're going to do it anyway, so why not help them out? I wouldn't.

haha yes turbo im making an assumption. and confidence was the emotion portrayed. do you honestly have any doubt that ALL 4 LOCKERS BEING LOOSE could be a coincidence? or just maybe its what myself, and prob 30 or more others... having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, which having sparked numberous threads, of which i have read every word posted.... have enperienced. OP, hope in the end i helped out and many MANY apologies for assuming.

I think you just might be assuming your self that the 19" rays were the only ones theyre not designed to work with as youve said above.. because i certainly had this problem and dont have 19" rays.

it takes me 1 sec to lock my door, i know it will never strip out or come loose. you cant say the same thing about wheel locks as most of them will come loose and they tend to strip when you apply too much torque on them. its a pain in the a to have them around if you swap tires often, not really worth the hassle.

i have a set of lock nuts that came with the car, i will trade you for 4 regular lug nuts....
