ok this maaaaay be a dumb question but why does the jpm pw shift knob have what looks to be a hex head on the top? i like the knob

jdmpw shift knob question
ok this maaaaay be a dumb question but why does the jpm pw shift knob have what looks to be a hex head on the top? i like the knob a lot but don't know if i like that hex looking piece on top....

So you can center the logo ring once you have the knob tightened down. You canals change the ring color as well.
