Why? For me, #1 reason is "looks".
My wife, as I point out a G37 and ask her what she thinks of it: "That looks like an everyday car". In the 2 years I owned my G35 (still same profile as G37 IMO), I got maybe 2 people to look at my car and actually say something. I got more comments and compliments on my Z three days into owning it. Case closed. In addition, as others have mentioned... G = sporty, Z = sports car in all categories... looks, performance, sound, feel, etc....

"Look.. you can be like everyone else?(G37) or you can be somebody(370z)"
This is how you should look at it.. since every girl and their mom has a G37. And you have to admit.. alot of people are getting the Z! but still not as much..

1. Performance the G37 is about 500 pounds heavier than the 370z
2. For me the Z looks better than the G even though I have seen some nice looking G37's 3.The Z is a true sports car the G is a sports coupe.

1) Looks - The Z's butt is just so mesmerizing can't get enough. The G37 is ugly imo. The G35c was much better than the G35c.
2) Rare - The Z is much much much less common than the G37. I see about 25:1 ratio for the G:Z.

I currently have a G37s and switching to a 370z. Its not that I had any major complaints about the G. It has been a great car. Very comfortable, performs when you need it to, and has all the toys you need. I don't discourage anyone from getting it. I am switching to the 370z, however for the following reasons:
- I am 21 years old, and the G IMO is made for a more distinguished and mature person because its a more professional car...I figure that as long as I'm young I might as well drive a true sports car as a daily driver and not a luxury coupe - I was tired of driving my roommates around and trying to squeeze 4 people's grocery run's in the already limited amount of space lol (i.e. less car pooling as mentioned before) - you do not give up many luxuries when moving from a G to a fully loaded 370 which makes the transition easier - the look/feel of the car is more sporty (little noise reduction as compared to the G and a more performance-oriented stance for improved handling over the G) - I really like the persimmon interior which was a major selling point for me - Syncro Rev match is awesome and makes you feel like a professional (which I'm not) Now I will go through the reasons I enjoyed the G so much: - more comfortable for longer trips (my school is about 2 hours from home and I come home quite frequently) - perceived as more of a gentleman, especially my gf's parents (which I'm not sure is 100% accurate but I'll take it) - stock exhaust sounds better than the Z's IMO (but since I'm ordering the Stillen CBE for the Z, this is not bothersome) - the laser cruise control system helped on longer drives as well - it was a bit more understated than my old red 350z which made a noticable difference in the amount of attention I got from cops - for some reason, I didn't feel as guilty for driving it in the rain/snow, maybe because its more of a lux-coupe rather than a sports car I think ultimately, it depends on what you're looking for. Sports Car or Lux-Coupe (as previously stated)? Each has its benefits and drawbacks. hope this helps. |
