When to buy ?
 
Well guys my wife and I have been looking at 370z's this summer but are unable to come up with a down payment till end of august .So my question is are screwed ,with the supply and demand problems are we going have to over pay or should we wait till spring ? when perhaps the prices go back to "normal" AAAAHHH help!

prices will go down in the winter since no one really buys sports cars in the winter. summer is a horrible time to by something fun such as motorcycles, boats, or sports cars. wait and get a deal. trust me, you'll find a Z. not a lot of people can afford a Z let alone any sports car right now.

Plus the 2012's won't start hitting lots till September if you're wanting a new new one. If not, once they do, they prices on 10's and 11's will drop a bit to get them off the lot. :tup:

Def. wait and save up for a fat down payment. I didn't pull the trigger on mine until the end of Feb. By that time I had a large down and got a couple thousand under invoice for a MY2011 since it was in the middle of winter.

But he/she lives in Colorado, 370 would be useless in the winter. Might as well wait until spring of 12.

I say do your research, find the car you like, at the price you agree with and enjoy the car now.

Always go at the end of the month, when I bought my car Nissan had a dealer promotion going that paid a bonus based on volume for the month and it made the dealer VERY motivated.

I gotta disagree.

Is your credit good?

Nissan is doing 0% financing through July 6th (2 weeks from today). They are also doing $2000 rebates to the dealers on 2010 370Z models.

Nissan will also finance with pretty much nothing down. Let's say you want a base model with the sport package and auto trans. Invoice is $33059. I just did a deal for $3204 below invoice for a 2010. That would put the price of that car at $29,859. That is a smokin' deal.

Let's say you wait and order a 2012 and end up paying $1,000 over invoice, and let's say the MSRP goes up $500 for 2012. You are looking at paying $36,100 for the car, and you don't get 0% financing.

You can probably save $6k by buying the car soon. If the hold up is the down payment but your credit is good, don't be afraid to apply at the dealer, they may easily be able to finance you at 0% with pretty much nothing down.

Best price you will get is in Oct-Dec of the model year. If the car lasts beyond that, the dealership has to pay taxes on it, so they're really willing to let them go for peanuts at that point. Plus, sports cars don't sell well in cold weather, so it's less likely that they'll offload them at that point. And if you start looking in the middle of the month and save negotiation until the end of the month, you'll have them in a bind.

You can buy for well below invoice.

this is only for VERY QUALIFIED buyers.... ie buyers that can buy the car cash yet put it on finance for some werd reason.

Well, the $2000 rebate to the dealer isn't dependent on buyer qualifications... but according to my dealer, it's only on roadsters (wish a dealer here would chime in?) although Edmunds says on coupes too, but only for the 2010 models.

As for the financing, again the dealer says only on the 2010 roadsters, but, Nissan does also have 1.9% and 2.9% APR deals, which are very very good.

As for well qualified, from what I understand, you need around a 720 FICO score to qualify for the best deals. That's not that great credit, really... if you don't have any bill collectors calling, and you haven't been late on payments in the past couple of years, and your credit cards aren't jacked up to the limit, you should qualify.

Bought my '09 December 1, 2009 and got it for way, way under invoice. That's the best time of the year as I see it.
