Millage vs money
So Im looking at these 2 2009 370Zs...And as far as I know the are both the same car, option wise, both Sports .. One has 18K miles and is $3k more than one that has $49k miles .. So my question is is the less millage worth that much more money .. They will just be my Daily Driver and never raced or anything ... Opinions ...

Depends... hwy miles less strain vs local miles.
49k miles mean it's been driven a lot. However, in my experiences with used cars, YMMV still applies. 18K miles could mean someone trashed the engine like nuts and 49k miles could mean someone drives far from and to work hitting 60mph speed limit in long drives.
Or I could be making stuff and both were trashed, just one was trashed longer. |
probably worth the money but wear and tear, hardly noticable. i've got almost 67k on mine, still runs like new and looks new as well. its all in how you take care of your car.
and yes ask if they are highway miles on the 49k one, less clutch use if so |
Wow 49k miles on an 09. Mine I just bought had 358 miles on an 09. for 23000. Talk about a steal, eh?
Depends on how the car was driven and maintained. But since you don't know, go with the lesser mileage car. Offer him way less than asking price and add $1500 for the lower mileage. Get service records.
Try to find an '09 like mine--- pristine with 6200 miles on it. Now that's worth the extra bucks. |
I mean on my GTO that would be a no brainier , but Nissan Im not as scared of the high miles ...
Buy a new one and you will sleep well. There's no money that can buy you lost sleep :)
I would go for the lower mileage one but that's just me
if you can afford it, go with lower mileage
well I ran a carfax and both have had no problems ..
One still has factory warranty - what is that worth to you?
It's a coin toss. Are they both at the same dealer? If so they are probably going to deal on the high miles first. If not than work them against each other to get the best deal. Just be willing to take the high mile car if one isn't willing to deal.

But minor stuff can be tricky, e.g. water damage and the guy just replaced the carpets but didn't fix wiring issues, or a rear end hit where he just replaced the bumper cover to make it look ok, but there's frame damage hiding underneath screwing up alignment. |
