I would take a GTR AND a 370z if they were the same price. I'd drive the GTR all winter long while rotating In the summer.
GTR's tranny Is not that boring. For those people that say they want to "drift" I'm assuming most of you only mean fishtailing here and there... the GTR will do that no problem. GTR owners are you able to control the power split? I'm assuming you can, I am just not sure. Like 40/60 f/r or even more rwd oriented? |

Maintenance costs are very high on the GT-R. But you have to keep in mind that this car is considered a supercar. All supercars have high maintenance costs. What are the maintenance costs on a 911 turbo, a ferrari 430, or a lambo gallardo for example? How would they compare to the GT-R? If both cars are the same price I'd get the GT-R. Yeah its more boring to drive on the street, but I'm pretty sure its a blast to drive on a track. |

I had to back off on some of the higher up premiums for options I was paying for on the Cobalt I had. In GA my Cobalt was $230 a month for damn good insurance and my driving record. In TX it bumped it up to $300, just because its TX. So when I switched to the 370Z AND I moved to Texas I was going to get double raped. So I had to back off on some stuff hardcore. Now I pay $340 a month in TX with the Z. |
All things being equal, I think most of us would want the 370Z's looks and GT-R's performance. Unfortunately, most of us live in the real world. Anyway, half the fun of owning these cars is modifying. The GT-R has very little left for improvement without costing a small fortune. With the sticker price of the GT-R, you could have a Z that's pretty fast & unique. If money was no object, I'd still get a Z....heck I'd get two.

there is no default power split like evo or sti... its is like 98%/2% until the AWD is needed then is sends the appropriate torque to the front wheels in real time then back to RWD

the only thing close to what your asking about is the 2012 has a feature that disengages the front differential to reduce front end binding in sharp turns or in the cold.... but it only works at like 6mph and under |
An AWD Z would be fun. Still want a manual shifter though and agreed on the no boat (huge car) theory.
|
Coming from my original love of a boosted 240 is why I'd prefer the Z. Feels more like its YOU and the car. Instead of the GTR feeling like its the CAR and you, especially with all of the computer stuff going on. I'm still in the process of getting used to drive by wire. It already screwed me over once in the Z. But nothing serious.
|
First of all, I love my Z.
With that said, I couldn't help but notice many of you discount the GTR because it's an "automatic." I suggest you educate yourself, because you sound really freaking DUMB. |
Moreover, GT-R is initial costs is not too far out, but it's the maintenance and repair costs that would concern most people. Few thousand dollars just the change the brakes. Over a thousands dollars to change the trans fluid. Anything goes wrong with the hardware is very very costly... etc.
