The stock exhaust note is definitely subdued, and I'm perfectly fine with that because some people prefer something more quiet. Those who want to alter the sound of the exhaust can simply go aftermarket.
The engine sound at high revs may not be the cleanest (coming from a VQ35DE), but it is still exhilarating. I think I prefer angry V6 sound compared to tiny 4-banger-like sound.
