Yeah happy, I agree...

It's just that when I read the OP's post, it's just so bizaare... from left field, and elementary at that. Being a Z owner myself, I don't agree with the majority of his suggestions because not only is it not my taste, but it ultimately comes down to COST. I mean, for goodness sakes, Nissan cheaped out on (just to name a couple) installing a cabin filter (what is that cost to Nissan in the end to add that in? 4 bucks tops?) and an oil cooler, how much more those suggestions the OP suggested..... Sounds more like he wants a GTR for 90k. No need to redesign the Z, just buy the GTR, OP.

I hear you on all points loud and clear, but remember: American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by removing 1 olive from each 1st class salad.

So...in short, if Nissan made 40k 370z last year, they saved $160k!

The only thing I would want is a Targa Option. The design of the car is perfect imho. Each to their own I guess.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense... it's all in the mass quantities. So I guess the chance of them installing an oil cooler for a stock Z in the future is almost nil

I have a MBA question:

If I write Nissan and tell them I want a GTR with a manual transmission, what are my chances of getting what I want?

I'd say none.

But if I create a laundry list of changes will my chances increase?

with the exception of more power, nothing in the OP's letter would be on my wish list, and most of his mentioned "upgrades" would be a negative force in my buying decision.

If anything, I would prefer the Z remain more of a true sports car, and NOT go back to the 1980's boulevard cruiser style.

I'd even like it to go back to the 70's lighter-than-air performance style.

That's correct. Anything more out of the Z starts getting close to GT-R territory. If the Z were to go back to basics I would like to see a more compact package, shave a few hundred pounds, and drop in something along the lines of a VQ25HR and a turbo variant. Performance should be at least as good as the current generation, but the lighter weight will make it more nimble and hopefully improve MPG.

^ that would be interesting! I agree cars are all a bit bloated these days with 'amenities'. However, dropping hundreds of pounds of weight is made even more difficult by the safety requirements the government is imposing on all of the manufacturers.

That is a good question for International Business class (MBA) that I'm taking this semester. Add the following too:

1. Size of market (demographics, socioeconomic state)
2. Sociocultural acceptance of product–adaptation necessary?
3. Legal/bureaucratic environment (imports, local manufacture, taxation).
4. Competition in market.
5. Economic and political climate for foreign business.
6. Methods for marketing and distribution.
7. Managerial and labor climate.
8. Financial viability (profit margin, currency translation, profit repatriation).

Quite honestly after working for Nissan for several years you would have a better chance getting a reply by writing Santa Claus than you would having Nissan implement any changes that you would request.

They are probably already working on the next generation (or will be in a year or two) and won't take your input.

Dear Santa:

I visit the370z.com site a lot and I have only one wish this year...

Can you please get people to stop talking about all of the things "wrong" with the 370Z and just accept it for what it is. That's all.

Thank you!
