Has anyone done it?

I want to have it on mine.

what are the structural concerns if any?

whats it cost to have it done?

No me gusta.

_ace_ 06-23-2011 09:47 PM

The chassis would get a lot less stiff if you hacked it up like that.

Rooskey 06-23-2011 11:15 PM

It should be a factory option. I would have gone for one

Lemers 06-23-2011 11:40 PM

I believe they added structural supports for the yellow Z

Bluebatmobile 06-24-2011 10:38 PM

hmmm, dunno if I'm feelin' it.

The owner of that car is a South Caroline native and a forum member, contact TopGone.

The car is sponsored by Vibe and Stillen and is pretty neat to ride in honestly (its different having a Targa Roof).

:shakes head:
holy mother of god! please don't!
why would you ruin such a nice car in that way?
just buy a convertible if you need wind over your head.
I'm sure this would affect TOTALLY the integrity of the chassis
and handling.

im sure that if they were tracking their car they would be concerned about that. But considering that they did add structural support to the car, its good enough for them to drive around and do what they do with the car.

I mean, people arent riding around taking corners are 80mph in neighborhoods where you need all that handling capability.

and the looks are subjective. I personally am not a huge fan but thats also cus i am not a fan of yellow cars at all .

Lemers 06-25-2011 12:21 PM

I like it. If it were offered OEM I'd trade my '10 in for it.

marcussoori 06-30-2011 08:32 PM

I really like it...anyone know the manufacturer, whether there are leaks, what structural supports are added, cost, etc.?

Thanks

marcussoori 01-27-2012 10:40 AM

Update?

cheshirecat 01-27-2012 12:13 PM

^ It's a custom job. It's not something in mass production.

It looks like Z1 has worked on it. You may want to start by giving them a call.
Targa Z

phunk 01-27-2012 01:39 PM

i would be all over it if there was a kit that accomplished it with OEM fit and finish, but i dont see that happening.

MattP725 01-27-2012 03:47 PM

Don't like it... looks like a hackjob since it isn't OEM. Everything is abrupt and unfinished.

nmjaxx9 01-27-2012 03:52 PM

Yeah not a big fan of it, never liked them on the older Porsches either:

eddieconfetti 01-27-2012 04:40 PM

if you have questions about it ask the owner. there is also a thread about the build of it.

Kandy OrangeZ 01-27-2012 04:40 PM

I saw the Yellow z34 at Znats, the quality was terrible imo. :(

UNKNOWN_370 02-28-2012 01:52 PM

It looksnice imho... but my question is, what does it look like with the top on? That's what would be the real dealbreaker. If it looks hacked into with the top on then its not worth it.

Targa Top

Has anyone Targa Top their Z here ?
i seen a yellow one on youtube and a photo of a green ones as well.
I do not like convertible cars, but that Targa Top looks extra dope to me.
I was told if you do go Targa Top, the car might be all crooked and the handling and body of the car will be useless. Someone i dont really know well said that when the Targa Top subject was brought up.
Trying to find anything online but didnt find anything relative with Z and Targa Top.
So what are your thoughts on this ?
Seems to me this is the only thing missing on the Z.

I saw the yellow one in person at Z Nationals 2011. I think it's a rather cool mod, but it's pretty extreme, so you don't see it done very often.

I think it looks cool and would be fun for a cruiser or show car, but if you care about retail or track performance, it'd be a no go.

theboydiddy 03-09-2013 10:16 PM

my car its a daily now. its going to be one year that i have it on the 14th and i only got 7k miles on it. actually just got to 7k too.
i was looking to purchase some bs to be my daily just so i dont drive my Z every day every where. and i think taking that top off in shows and car meets would be dope.

Oh, I agree, it's pretty awesome at shows and meets. I bet it's a blast to drive on a nice warm day, too.

theboydiddy 03-09-2013 10:21 PM

yeah. exactly my thoughts

PapoZalsa 03-10-2013 01:04 AM

I think T-Tops were look better and keep more structural rigid to the frame....

Zythaxus 03-10-2013 05:12 AM

if it looked better maybe...looks like they took a sawzall to it and covered it up with some plastic

bigsix 03-10-2013 07:12 AM

I think Targas are Porsche's thing. T-tops are Nissan's thing. To each his own.

theboydiddy 03-10-2013 10:30 AM

I like the way it looks. But I don't like the finishing looks. Looks pretty cheap to me. I wanna see how it looks with the Top on too. Probably it adds more cabin noise. More than the Z already has -___-

Sway 03-10-2013 09:00 PM

I think if it was done OEM it would be sick, the 350's look great... but I don't like the look on that yellow Z... =( sorry.

MEZZZER 04-05-2013 09:30 AM

Z Targa

I personally think a Targa on a 370 would be totally SICK! and wish like crazy it was a factory option like on a Vette, where it could be removed and then snapped into a holding place in the hatch area just like the current Vettes! If I could get it done reasonably and by someone of some talent that I could trust, cutting my baby, then I would DEFINETLY get it done. but I doubt all of that could be done to please me enough. lol. MEZ.

Brutal 370Z 04-05-2013 09:52 AM

Wish that came from the factory like the vette coupes. That would be really sweet!

MEZZZER 04-05-2013 09:57 AM

yes indeed!:iagree:

bigdog1250 04-05-2013 09:58 AM

Our roof is too short to be a targa, looks kinda awkward.

I love targas but they need to be thought of while designing the car. Corvettes always pull it off the best.
