How much was your DMV Renewal cost?

Should cost me between $40-$50 here in NJ. I think my old truck cost about $90

I paid just under 500.00 here in Vegas. This is such a big rip off. Why do you have to pay more to drive a nice new car than a old beat up one? Both cars are able to drive on the same roads. Then my wifes new Altima was due the next month, almost 500.00 for that one too!

79.00 here in texas.
depends on the state. i once lived in oklahoma and they go by the cost of the
car.higher the car the higher the tags. guess they figure if you can afford to
buy a 40,000 car what's another 500.00 for tags. which is a rip off..

And yet another reason I LOVE Texas! I can't imagine paying that much. I'll pay about $69/year for registration and $40/year for my personalized plates. (Grandfathered in on my vanity plates FTW!)

It's called income redistribution. And get used to more of it, unless changes happen in 2012.

+2. Plus, we can lock in for two years by paying the second year in advance (which I DON'T do).

AND, we don't have a forced state vehicle inspection.

AND, we don't have a forced state emission inspection.

AND, we don't have a state income tax.

We do however have hurricanes.

The amount IS based on book value. I also have a 2011 Subaru Outback, and the renewal for that is $71. Both are due next month.

I purchased my car in March 2010 and in Aug I moved from NJ to DE. Upon entering the great state of DE, I have to pay a fee of 3.75% of NADA book value of the vehicles to title in the state. So The guy at the DMV did me a "favor" and appraised my Z at $21k. Total after all fees was $881. I think next year it's $40 or something like that.
