7AT downshift from 3rd to 2nd in manual mode
So today as I was driving home from work I had the Z in manual mode with VSD off. It was just the open road and I so I wanted to have a LITTLE fun. Well as I was approaching a stoplight, I noticed the car made a pop sound almost like you took two rocks and slammed them together. I also could feel it on the shifter. I decided to put it back into auto mode and couldn't seem to replicate the issue. Has anyone else experienced this? I would think if it were the tranny taking a dump it would be rough through all gears but I could be wrong. Was just curious if any other 7AT owners have experienced this?

Nope, never happened to me.

I've never had nothing but smooth up & down shifts.

What year and how many miles you guys have? I have an 09 with 10.5 k.

|

yeah I am going to take it in tomorrow and have them look at this AND the stuttering/stalling after cold start issue that they have "fixed" once already.
So sad..this is basically a brand new car :shakes head: |
Good luck with getting everything fixed

OP, so what finally happened? Mine has done this a few times on cold mornings but was pretty consistent this morning where it did it like 4 times in a row and even in auto mode. It's almost like the rev matching is screwing up or forgetting what its supposed to do. This evening on the drive home it didn't make a peep. I am going to disconnect the battery and see if a system reboot helps it out. I'll be mentioning it at my 30K mile service appointment in a couple of weeks.

Never had an issue here, 2013 4k miles. I do actually sometimes see the car fail to hold gears/revs and the RPMs just dip if I'm not pressing gas and then the RPMs just jump back up when I hit the gas. Also sometimes when I downshift the gears don't properly downshift but the revs just dip and the revs don't jump up on the downshifts. Happened a few times to me, not sure what it is, having the A/C on or very cold weather? I have no idea.

something similr happens to mine, but only cold mornings when the engine has't got to full operating temp. It seems to forget to synch rev, kind of an abrupt downshift, always betwwen 2nd to1st. but once the temp comes up never happens.
Is that the computer being too smart? |

But, the only difference is weather really - so that could be what's causing it. |
